Addressing Informal Stds & Invitations

Jamie, on September 19, 2019 at 11:33 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
So our wedding will on the more casual side. The ceremony will be in a church, but our reception will be at a botanic gardens with burgers/pulled pork sandwiches from a food truck, lawn games, and a bonfire and s'mores. No DJ, but will have a playlist going. We're telling people its dressy casual, but on the more casual side lol. I'm starting to gather addresses to send out STDs soon, and I think because our wedding will be a more casual affair I don't want to do the formal "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". I was thinking of doing John and Jane Doe, is this ok? Or way too informal? Thoughts?

I think that's fine. It fits the formality of the event and still makes it clear who is invited.

My wedding is more on the formal side and we just used first/last names without titles for the save-the-dates. Never thought to do otherwise. We might go more formal for the actual invites but I really don't think it's a big deal.

    That's fine, we addressed ours:

    John & Jane Doe

    John Doe and Jane Smith

    John Doe and Guest

    The Doe Family

Agreed - I think that's totally fine, and sounds like it fits your wedding vibe better than "Mr. & Mrs.".
