Addressing and Packing

Sarah, on September 23, 2021 at 11:42 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 2 5
So I purchased my invitations and RSVP cards. However, to save our budget, these are the only things that I got with one envelope to send everything. I have a couple questions regarding these though.
First, my RSVP cards will not have an envelope since the cards will direct them to our website instead. I have a very strict budget from FH and the website helps maintain the guest list (avoid unknown plus ones) and I also couldn’t do the postage. I was going to write the names of those that are invited on the card so it matches the website, but how do I address them to do such?
Second, after I’ve addressed the RSVP cards, how do I layer the two pieces into the one envelope and then address the envelope?I’ve tried searching for these answers online and I’m not seeing many examples that show just the invitation and RSVP card with one envelope. (Like I said before, I didn’t make info cards or accommodation cards because all of that is on our website and I had to maintain my budget.)

I'd just stick the RSVP card on top of the invitation and put them in the envelope, addressed specifically to who is invited. H and I were in a similar-ish situation where we didn't have an inner envelope that spells out exactly who is invited, so we put either the couple's names to specify the two of them are invited, the family's name to specify the whole family is invited (for those with kids under 18, otherwise anyone 18+ got their own invite), and "So-and-So and Guest" for individual people who get +1's.

Thank you! That’s what I was seeing, too, but wasn’t quite sure.

Make sure you have an option for people to call/text their replies if they are not tech savvy.

You don't address the RSVP cards. Just address the invitation. If someone is not included on the addressed invitation, it is assumed they are not invited.

We put the RSVP card under the invitation (no envelopes) but ours were in a pocket fold and I wanted the invite to show through and be the first thing people saw as they opened it. This is just an idea, but we made a QR code that was directly linked to our RSVP page. We printed it off and carefully glued it onto the back of the RSVP. In hindsight I would have had the QR code printed on from Zazzle.com where I got my invitations and rsvp’s, but I originally was going to have guests mail them back. It didn’t turn out too tacky and everyone loved the ease of responding! Just so you know, the rsvp was a bit wonky to use and there were instances where guests couldn’t find their names even though they were there on the list when I double checked. I like your idea of putting the names on the rsvp envelope as how it will appear on the guest list on your rsvp page. Had I done that I may have avoided confusion and certain Tec issues.
