Address multiple invites/RSVP for family member and guest

Elizabethschuzer, on June 27, 2017 at 4:39 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 8

I'm going to try posting this question again because apparently there was a lot of confusion on my last thread as to what I was asking. If I am sending an invite to my aunt/uncle and their family, and my cousins get a plus one (I'm giving all adults/cousins a plus one because who wants to attend alone?) so how can I address an invite to let cousins know they each have a plus one if they chose to? The insides will include multiple invites/rsvp to correspond to each pair (aunt/uncle, cousin#1 +1, cousin#2 +1) in the invite arriving at their parents (aunt/uncles) address in one outer envelope. How should I address the cousins invites in the inner envelope so they know they have a plus one and each pair of people rsvp for their pair? Also I got a lot of questions about why I'm asking so early, but I'm ordering invites and am already thinking the proper way to write them so I know what I'm doing when I get them. I may be crazy apparently but I would like honest, how would you do it answers.

I personally would send each couple (aunt/uncle, cousin #1 and +1, etc.) separate wedding invitations even if they lived at the same address, to avoid confusion. My personal opinion aside, formal wedding etiquette states that adults above 18 years of age need their own wedding invitation even if they live at the same address.

Do they all live at one location, if not I think it would be easier to find out their separate addresses and mail individually.

If not maybe put each person on their own line on the front example

    Mr. and Mrs. Smith

    Cousin1 and guest

    Cousin2 and guest

For adults getting plus ones I am sending 2 invites to the same address. I wanted to avoid any chance of confusion. My FH cousin, aunt, and Nana all live at the same house and we always send separate cards/invites.

As I answered in your last post, if they are adults they each get their own invite even if they live in the same house. I would especially do this is you are trying to avoid confusion. Your first post was extremely clear. Not sure why you had to post again.

Even if they live in the same household, each adult should get their own invitation. I.e. FH's cousin lives with his twin brother. We will be sending them both invitation. Then on their invitation you can put "we have reserved two seats in your honor"

I sent each adult in the same home their own invitation. I sent 3 to the same house in one case.

Thank you everyone, and Kelly C I agree. I think I was perfectly clear. I saved your response but wanted to get multiple opinions figuring they would be similar to your reply (which I did save!) but I started a new thread because apparently trying to clear things up and point out the clarity made me salty and I got multiple unhelpful comments about why I'm even asking "soooo early" when this is when I'm supposed to pick out and order invites. My goal was not to disregard your helpfulness I promise! It was to disregard all of the unnecessary hate I was receiving. Thank you all for the advice and Kelly C for making sure I knew her helpful advice <3

So I totally understand what you mean. As she stated in her post each couple has an invite she just wants to mail them in one envelope (not the same as just one invite). Personally, since you already have envelopes for each separately and all three aren't going to fit in one envelope, put each in its own envelope. Address each cousin+1 separately on the inner envelopes and mail all three in one larger envelope to the address.
