Additional Food That Caterer Doesn’t Offer

Callie, on May 17, 2019 at 10:04 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
Hi everyone! So we are doing a backyard low key wedding and we are having BBQ. The company that is catering it makes delicious meats and southern style comfort food sides. However they don’t really have any vegetable options. I would like to at least have a side salad or some thing veggie in addition to their sides. Is it appropriate to get a salad from somewhere else (or maybe homemade) or should I just stick to what they offer? Not sure what the etiquette is around catering food if it’s something they don’t offer.

Have you asked if they can just make a salad or a vegetable? Most caterers are pretty accommodating.

Ask around at your local grocery store, they typically make salads and coleslaw or anything like that. They are typically reasonably priced too

Agree with pp they may be willing to do a veggie. Okra would be yummy.

The BBQ place that's catering us is bringing beans, coleslaw, Mac and cheese, and salad with ranch. We really lucked out!

I would at least ask the caterer. If they can't do it, look into getting it somewhere else. I'm not sure if it's considered rude or not but if they can't supply something you want, it shouldn't be an issue for you to get otherwise

Usually a caterer has it written in their contract that all the food (other than desserts) will be provided by them only. This is to protect them from outside foods being consumed that might make someone sick and then make them liable. So I would definitely check with them first
