Additional detail work added to a dress

Liz, on February 25, 2021 at 11:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Besides general alterations to your dress for fit, has anyone had additional detail work sewn on to the dress? I'm assuming it can be done, but wasn't sure if this was reasonable? I absolutely love the fit and look of the dress, and it would be perfect if we were just having a country style wedding, but ours is a mix of country and classic. Would like the dress to have the same type of feel and I can't find anything even online that appeals to that. The dress has nice lace detail, but you'll probably have to zoom in to see it. Was thinking of adding a belt, I don't know if that would be enough. I don't even have an idea of what to sew on, just know I want more...Additional detail work added to a dress 1

I think adding a beaded belt could look nice - you could have it sewn into the dress if you wanted. I don't know what else you would possibly add. Its a beautiful dress!

Can you keep shopping around to try on dresses? Now that you know the style/fit can you narrow your search to that? A belt would look nice, and its a pretty dress, but it seems like you want a little extra flair.

I've hit all the boutiques around me and tried on pretty much anything that struck my fancy and a lot of things that was selected by the attendant. And pretty sure I've looked at the entire inventory online for the major dress retailers... Just not finding anything that I feel really mixes the country and classic vibe I'm going for. I am wearing cowboy boots at the wedding so it definitely needs to have that country vibe.

I don't know what else can be added to keep the coutry/classic vibe. Its very pretty. Ask the person who does alterations, if nothing can be added, you can always try different accessories. But once your hair is done I think it will look perfect for what you're going with.

What about an overskirt for the ceremony. It would make it more classic. Then you can just take it off for the reception. It's like having 2 dresses in 1.

I wanted a little bit of bling on my dress, so I picked out a beautiful belt and my seamstress sewed it on during alterations. I love it and she said it was easy!!
