Adding straps (thicker) to cover some of my back, with a flutter sleeve

Amy, on June 4, 2019 at 12:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
Hi! I can find ideas with a bolero or thinner straps, and I love the flutter sleeve look. My dress is a flowy a line with a sweetheart neck. It's the swiss dot tulle fabric one from davids bridal. I bought it knowing i.would be adding sleeves to it but can't find any inspiration that would help my seamstress. Anyone out there do something similar?

What kind of fabric is your dress? I'm wondering what would match the dots. It's strapless too. Hmm.

    Off to Google!

    Here's a few inspo pics:

    1. Example of a sweetheart strapless

    2. I'm loving the blue

    3. Beautiful example of a flutter sleeve but the embroidery wouldn't match

    4. Cute dots like on your dress

    5. It would look nice if you added sleeves like the ones on the burgundy dress. I think this type of sleeve would be prettiest and match your dress the most

The swiss dot is all over and I dont need the sleeves to match either, a little different lace or something would be welcome. Smiley smile

Oh my!!!! I love all of them. I dont want to leave my shoulders open due to tattoos on one side i would like just covered a bit for my Dad. When i showed him the strapless he said it did look bare and he would like to see it covered if possible. Same here. Smiley smile

Mimetik on Etsy sells wrapable sleeves in tule and lace. She might have something for you

Another thing too is what I love about the dress is the bodice and the way the style is...it has a point right at the waist. I am not going to wear a belt so it shows rhatndetail off, hoping for some glitzy sleeves to add some style too. I am trying to get away from a capelet or any kind of topper that would cover it.

What a fantastic idea! You could also look on etsy for pre made ones that can be attached!

My upper arms are one of my problem areas. I'm just gonna wear a push up bra and hope that distracts people from my arms haha. Seriously though, I hate my arms. My dress has spaghetti straps. I considered adding something, but decided to keep the dress as is. It's beaded and I have no idea what would match. I'm trying to lose weight. I might be able to love 5-7 lbs by mid August. It literally comes off my arms and hips last though. So oh well. 🤷

You're gonna rock that dress, I know it! 😘
