Adding sleeves to dress?

Victoria, on April 20, 2016 at 11:47 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

I was thinking of getting some type of sleeve on my wedding dress.... I wanted to see what your opinions are. I'm worried it could look weird because of all the beading at the top of my dress. My dress is attached and potential sleeve options I'll comment.

PS- I'm thinking about selves because I'm wearing my hair up and I feel like there is just a lot of bare space.

I am in the same boat. I have been told that I can easily get detachable straps, so I can always take them off or decide last minute. If you do sleeves, I like the first photo! Also, I think it depends on the veil. I am not going to decide about it until I figure out my veil/hair situation.

I understand that! I am wearing my hair down and am still worried about it being too much skin up top. I like sleeve 1, but if sleeve 2 wasn't as wide I would pick that one. I think sleeves will work well with your dress. Smiley smile

My dress has detachable straps but I absolutely LOVE the sleeves so I will be wearing them! Your dress is beautiful without sleeves but I also really like sleeve 1

Have you thought about a shrug or bolero? It would give you more coverage, and be detachable in case you change your mind on the day.

Alternatively, if your seamstress is hemming the dress for you, you can ask her to save fabric from the bottom to make sleeves or straps out of, so they'll match the dress.

I'm having sleeves like the 1st picture added to my dress. I never wear strapless and knew I wanted to add them immediately.

I really like the dress without sleeves but #1 would be my choice of sleeves if I had to choose.

I'm having sleeves added. I'm ordering extra fabric and appliqué from the designer so they will match my dress. I feel the same way about strapless...it's just too much skin and I never wear strapless anything so I know I wouldn't feel like me if I wore strapless on my wedding day.

If you do choose to add sleeves, I like the first pic with the smaller sleeves that you posted Smiley smile

I really love the topper that @A Bride posted!

I loooove my sleeves on my dress, I feel like it makes it so much more elegant, especially if you are getting married in a church.

If it's in a church, I would definitely go with a sleeve for the ceremony at least. I've known several ladies who had detachable sleeves for the ceremony because it was in a church and they were uncomfortable with bare shoulders/church didn't allow strapless. They took the sleeves off for the reception.

Dress twins! Mine is ivory though so I didn't even recognize it, it looks so different!!! Haha. I actually had the seamstress show me some sleeve options at DB, and it really wasn't bad! But since I'm going to be walking around outside in winter, I'm getting a shawl and sleeves would be too much. If you go into the store they can pull a gown and show you some mock ups. Smiley smile

I really like it as is, but I also think Sleeve 1 would be nice.
