Adding lace sleeves

Kate, on November 26, 2017 at 10:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I am thinking about adding lace sleeves to my wedding dress!! It's a beautiful lace from a different dress. My dress currently has spaghetti straps right now. I was wondering if anyone has experience doing this? I am having our friend who is a seamstress do it for us. But I was wanting to see if anyone has added sleeves and regretted it or it turned out bad, if it turned out wonderful I'd love to know that too! Maybe some pictures as well!! I will attach a picture of my dress and the lace I will use.

Just an option, but just the off the shoulder sleeve detail would be pretty.

Your dress is beautiful. Just make sure the new lace sleeves aren't going to clash with the lace already on your dress.

We'd keep the top of this sleeve, make it tighter, and add more lace all the way down the sleeve.

I agree with kate. Make it tighter. Right now it looks like a dress from the 60s mixed with a new dress (saying you can tell the difference)

Yeah they are two different dresses! I found the lace one at an estate sale for $5!! So I got it to make a veil, and add lace sleeves

I had swag sleeves added to my strapless dress n no regrets. I like the idea you gave of making your sleeves tighter.

Do you plan on adding any lace to the neckline or just the sleeves?

I added sleeves to mine! Not lace, but still. I'm a December bride, in NY, so sleeves were logical. Plus I'm just a sucker for sleeves on a wedding dress.

I added long sleeves sleeves to my gown. It had little flutter sleeves but the straps were tank-top style. I had my seamstress remove the small flutter fabric and then she added the long sleeves. I was SO happy with how it turned out because I always knew I wanted long sleeves but I knew I would probably have to add them as there isn't a HUGE selection in most stores with long sleeves. The seamstress did such a great job, I think it looked like the gown was made with them! It added a personalized touch to the dress which made it feel more special to me. Definitely talk to a seamstress to discuss your options, it helps if you have photo inspiration to bring in so they have an idea of what you want. Attached is a before and after of my gown.
