Adding color tulle under dress

Sarah M, on February 6, 2016 at 8:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

Any advice?

Or would the lady doing my alterations be able to help or do this for me?

I keep trying to find information but it all leads to dead ends. I have a fit and flare dress, so I just want to add some blush pink tulle to match my colors. I tried looking for blush pink Veils. But I'm failing at that too Smiley sad

Etsy has some, but I'm worried they will look cheap.

Any information would be nice! Picture in comments of my wedding dress! Not me, but a picture off Pinterest since I don't have any on my phone haha

TIA

Ohhh I've never seen that, that's cool. No help, just admiring.

Isn't that neat? I definitely don't want a bold color! But it seems impossible to find out how these ladies accomplished it!! Haha

I don't see why a wedding alterations person wouldn't be able to make that custom. Or maybe someone on Etsy can customize a petticoat that attaches?

    That's a really cool idea!!

I never heard about this until my wedding coordinator told me. I think it looks awesome! I'm sorry I'm no help on where to have it done though

Thank you @JoRocka for that website. I found one, wondering if I could dye it.

I will look for slips! I'll check etsy again for petticoats.

I'll keep everyone posted. See what I can do! Haha

I'm doing this! I won't have pictures until June though... At my consultation, the seamstress told me how much to buy (4yards) after discussing how much I wanted and which layer. I picked out the color I wanted and got it super cheap at Jo-ann. My seamstress isn't removing any of the existing netting, just adding it to the top layer. I'm also not having it go longer than the dress so it's more subtle, but I'm super excited. If your dress needs a petticoat, you can get those in colors and save yourself the alteration. I'll definitely post pics at my first fitting in June, she said it'll be in by then. :-)

Thanks for the info @klimberkat !

Can't wait to see your pictures.

I'll try to figure what my seamstress suggests. What did she charge you? Was it just regular tulle you bought?

I want the same, no longer than the dress, super light blush pink and more subtle!

    Thanks again!!

LOVE the idea, and LOVE your dress!

Could you somehow get a white petticoat dyed?

I was thinking of dying a petticoat! But if I can get my seamstress to work with me like @klimberKat did with hers, maybe that'll be easier and the best way!

Amazon also has them. If you dye them yourself just be very very very careful.

I bought a blush veil to go with my wedding dress. I was also worried about getting one off etsy because they look cheap, so I bought mine from a bridal shop. They were able to customize one for me. I bet you can just check your local bridal shops!

The seamstress at the shop i bought my gown from is doing mine for me, though most of what you've linked is just colored petticoats, separate from the actual gown.
