Adding a last minute groomsmen

Monger2Be, on September 26, 2016 at 10:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

My FH called me this morning as I was pulling into work and asked if the bridesmaids and groomsmen had to be equal, which we had already discussed because I have 5 bridesmaids and he has 6 groomsmen. Well he asked again because he wanted to add another close friend because "he didnt think about it until just now". They have been super close for a really long time. If he had all his close friends as groomsmen, he would have about 15. My question is, is it too late? We get married in 7 days and he would have to go get fitted for the attire still. I told him if he can get his attire in time then I dont have a problem with it. Should I tell him I changed my mind? It's cutting it really close.

A "close friend" he didn't think about until 7 days before your wedding? Guys are different than girls with this sort of thing, but in my opinion that's like b listing your bridal party. For me it would be too much stress to make major changes like that 7 days before my wedding. I would say no, but my FH would not ask this question.

I don't think that's a good idea. His friend will probably feel like an after thought at this point. I would.

Yeah, that's what Im thinking also. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me. I told him if they arent able to get the attire needed to stand up there, they wont be up there

This groomsmen is going to feel like an afterthought (which he sort of was), I would say it is way too late. Not all close friends have to be in the wedding party.

It's too late. FH wasn't asked to be a groomsman until 2 weeks out from a wedding we attended in August and that sucked most of our money we had set aside for it. Please don't put that stress on him if he really is a close friend.

Well hopefully FH didn't already tell the friend to hurry and get his attire. Because if so he would probably be disappointed. But it is cutting it really close.
