Active duty military brother deployed during my wedding

Renee, on July 25, 2020 at 2:16 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 1 3
I am getting married October 2020, and although it hurts me to accept that my big brother will not be able to attend my wedding (I’m in Ohio, he is in WA state) due to travel restrictions from Covid-19. I’m looking for ideas on how to honor him at my wedding without it making it sound like he has passed!
I will be doing a memory table for family members who are deceased, so would it be bad to make a separate spot on the table with his military picture with a sign stating “Active Duty Navy, stationed WA” so on and so forth?
Also I hear suggestions about yellow flowers? What is yellow flowers for military significance? Thanks in advance!!

Putting a sign under his picture should work. Also, maybe livestream him in for the ceremony or a speech?

I know there used to be a thing about yellow ribbons, I believe it was to symbolize those who had "boys at the front".

I agree with the live streaming portion. That way you avoid the potential confusion with the photo.
Then he could also participate in your wedding which I’m sure is important to you.
My aunt had a backyard wedding and had someone FaceTime me and when they took pictures, they angled the phone so I could be seen in them too.

I'd definitely try to see if you could livestream him in for a portion! Smiley heart

I think there are also other easy places to acknowledge him - like if your parents make a speech, or have your officiant add an extra line to acknowledge his blessing and support from afar!
