Acrylic signs

Mo, on February 2, 2019 at 7:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 16
I think I’d like to have my seating chart and table numbers on acrylic signs. Any suggestions on the best place to purchase? Not sure if it’s more cost-effficient to get a piece of acrylic at Home Depot or something and DIY or order off Etsy.

You could DIY the table numbers, but DIYing the seating chart would be so time consuming, I'm not sure that saving a little bit of money would be worth your sanity. It can also get pretty messy if you're just using paint or a paint marker. Having it done by a professional would look much neater and more uniform. I would definitely go with Etsy.

You can have one made on Etsy or you cna diy if you buy the decals on Etsy and do put them on the acrylic yourself .. they will send it to you in one piece usually and you just stick it on.. I did my own welcome sign on a mirror and it was super easy

I will be using acrylic as well. I got samples from a shop on Etsy called Franhouse. The shop is in Bulgaria so you would need time to order it.

I have someone that could do it if I go the DIY route. I just don’t know if it is more cost effective to buy a blank one and have friend do it or order it from an etsy designer.

I wanted to do this so I went to Michael's to ask how much a large piece of acrylic would be and it was outrageous! Almost $180. I'm not sure about Home Depot's pricing and if they would cut it down to the size you need - but it may be worth it just to have someone else do it, especially if they are able to get acrylic at a reasonable price!

Why don’t get a quote from your friend and then see pricing avg. on Etsy? That would tell you which is more “cost effective”.

I have my for table numbers, sitting sign, cocktail sign, guest book sign, menus, card box & cake topper all acrylic. I got it all on Etsy mostly at the same shop and I was able to get pretty good deals. I’m not doing a lot of DIY for my wedding.
Tip for Etsy: Most shops would send you a code after placing an order for your next purchase that goes along the line of Thankyou or Thankyou10 for a percentage off.

Friend is free. I’m just having trouble finding pricing from retailers (other than Home Depot) to compare to Etsy shops which is why I wanted to know if anybody else has done the comparison.

You're welcome! I love to DIY, but it isn't worth it when someone else can do it cheaper! Smiley shame

If you're choosing the DIY route and find that acrylic is too expensive, you could consider using a piece of glass like from a picture frame instead. Of course, it's more fragile, but I think for table numbers you could save a some money by using picture frame glass like from a thrift store or dollar tree! Maybe for a larger sign (if it's at risk of people bumping into it), acrylic would be a better choice
