Acrylic signs and where to find them

Tracy, on August 1, 2019 at 6:41 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 16

For all of you DIYing signs, where did you get your acrylic from? I want to make my own signs, but can't seem to find blank acrylic anywhere. I was even thinking about picking up some old windows and use those, but I'm scared they might be a little to fragile. What do yall think?

Thanks in advance!!

I know Home Depot has some. Something I'm doing is using old painting frames. I work at a nursing home and they were getting rid of a ton of old paintings, all in ornate frames with glass still in tact. I grabbed a few and I'm planning to spray paint the frames and take the painting out, using the glass for the same effect. I obviously had an opportunity to get that for free, but I'm sure your local second hand store would have some as well.

The custom frame person at Michael's said that the cheapest acrylic is to by a cheap frame (make sure to use your coupons) and take the acrylic out. I needed a 12 x 24 in piece so I just bought an $8 frame.

Depending on how design and technology savvy you are you can get one printed professionally and sent to you through websites like "gotprint". Or you can go to thrift stores and find big cheap frames and use the glass in them. Depends how much of your time you're willing to devote to the sign. Good Luck! Love acrylic signs

Kristen, that was definitely a score!! We have a lot of thrift stores in our area so I will definitely look. I really like the idea of repurposing instead of buying new. Thanks for sharing!

I got some acrylic stuff on amazon - cake tray & raisers for dessert table. I just used canvas for the sign... but amazon was best spot for that i think.

You can find them on etsy, amazon, and some businesses where they make it?
