Acrylic plates?

FullerPartyof3, on April 9, 2018 at 3:22 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
We are having a small (under 60 people) casual wedding with close friends and family. We are serving gourmet pizzas and our caterer only provides clear acrylic plates. At first this semi bothered me, so I looked into those nicer fake “china” heavy acrylic plates. We can get what we need for under $100. I can’t decide if it’s worth the cost to have the nicer plates or not. Part of me sees my day looking nicer with them, the rest of me says “plastic is plastic, will anyone else even care?” Renting real plates is not an option as we are leaving the next day for our honeymoon and don’t want to have to clean all this plates and worry about tasking a family member to return them.

Thoughts?

If plastic is your choice, I don't think it matters if it is clear or opaque. I have always loved this idea with a clear plate and paper doilies.

Hi! I also will probably be using clear plastic plates for my wedding. Here's my take on it: I used the see-through element for a decorating opportunity. We will be doing a buffet with the clear plastic plates stacked there. However, when they go back to their seats there is a detailed place mat with a pattern and charger to go below the clear plastic plates. So when they set their plates down it becomes part of a more detailed and decorative place setting.

It's still saving us hundreds of dollars to do it this way than to pay for nice plates. Hope any of that helps or just gives you a different view on it. Smiley smile

Hey there! I have attended elegant weddings with nice, acrylic plates, and I didn't even notice the difference. They still looked beautiful, so I would go for it, especially since their very affordable! I hope everything works out well! Good luck!
