Absent Father

Christine Lynn, on December 2, 2016 at 5:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

So my father hasn't been around much in my life but always seems to find his way when it comes to life events. This being said, I want to be traditional and still include a father/daughter dance. All the songs posted online that I find seem too lovey. Although I love my father I don't want the typical song seeming as though I'm a daddy's girl or seem as though he's been an amazing father. Does anyone have any song suggestions for this? Preferably country but anything will do! Thank you.

We did Unforgettable by Nat King Cole. Now my father and I do not speak, and I am glad I used a 1 minute 30 second song that was over in a blink.

I have a similar relationship with my dad. We danced to "When you need me" by Bruce Springsteen

We did I hope you dance. His suggestion. I spent hours looking for songs and he suggested this. My parents are divorced so I was in a similar position.

Had the same situation, my dad popped in and out over over over again . Once I started wedding planning I didn't know it bothered me that much. So i did track him down and invited him but he didn't escort me or was a "supposed" daughter dance on the schedule. I did do a dance with him lattter that night since he asked me twice that night., I had my dj play Kelly Clarkson piece by piece for me. I love that song and my husband actually has showed me different and I could relate to the song most definitely. I have no other song idea.

Thanks all. It's nice when people can relate with something that isn't the best situation. I will check out some of the unfamiliar options listed. Maybe he'll give some input later on with something he may like. Otherwise it'll be my choice.

Let me just say... I'm a man (and a stoic one at that), but when I see a father/daughter at a wedding dancing to "I Hope You Dance," the humidity level surrounding my eyes immediately increases.

Doesn't matter your relationship with him, the sentiment of that song is beautiful and expresses the feelings of most parents on this earth, I'd say.

I love my dad and am his only girl, but we did unforgettable. Mainly because it was a last minute decision, he's not a good dancer. Lol. It was still memorable!
