a teacher, a student, and a bride?

Elizabeth, on September 14, 2018 at 11:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 26
A teacher, a student, and a bride...sounds like a beginning of a bad joke! This is my first year teaching special education. Additionally, I am finishing my last year in graduate school, AND I’m planning a wedding. My poor brain has never been so melted in my entire life. Anyone else experiencing something similar? Props to all those teacher and student brides out there. Much love to you! 😘

Congratulations. Yeah im.not a teacher but I'm a senior in college (majoring in data science). So it's lots of classes, (6 of them), applying for jobs, and wedding planning. There are times I'm just over it all.

    Good luck.

Teacher. I can't imagine being in grad school, too. 7th year for me, but I switched grade levels this year & I'm struggling! Big time.

When I got married the first time, I was in law school, working full-time, and on law review. I can recommend three things:

    1. Unless your FI has a similar schedule, he should be doing most of the planning.

    2. Keep it simple. For example, we had a restaurant reception. That meant we had only one vendor for venue, food, alcohol, cake, linens, etc., rather than trying to deal with a bunch of different ones. We also let the restaurant decorate, rather than trying to handle that ourselves.

    3. If anyone volunteers to help, accept. Now is not the time to worry about whether they will do things a little differently than you would--you've got more important things to think about. For example, my mother-in-law said she would handle the floral decorations for the ceremony. I was happy to let her pick out whatever flowers she liked, so long as that meant I didn't have to spend time with florists.

You'll get through all of this. And in the end, you'll be just as married as the one who spends a year of her life doing nothing but wedding planning.

This is me! I finish up classes in December. Get married and start student teaching in January.
I sub Monday-Friday (so not as bad as a classroom teacher) with class all day. Saturday and every other Wednesday night.
    I started planning early.
Take advantage of breaks to get stuff done. During fall break im DIYing my invitations.
I make vendor calls when the kids are at lunch.
After I've been doing homework for a while I'll take a break to look at wedding things as a reward.
Its a lot but you can do it!

My daughter that married in July is a grad student, employee, homeowner and mom. She kept it simple by using a reception venue that included everything but the DJ, photographer, and flowers. Accept help when offered and don’t get caught up in the tiny details. Focus on the marriage, not the wedding. Best wishes!!

I taught 4th for 6 years & now I'm teaching 2nd. I had the option to teach Kinder but that is way too big of a jump, in my opinion. I LOVE 2nd but it is challenging to me. I stay until 6 almost every night, just learning the curriculum... and our district just changed it this year so it's a lot. When is your wedding? Definitely take advantage of your upcoming breaks to get things done! We can do this! We are professional multitaskers!!

I’m a teacher and we planned a DW during April break to Florida. We are also building a house this year and it won’t be built until November so next week we are moving out of my condo that sold and into my parents’ for 2 months. My brain can’t handle any more of anything! I told me students they need to tell me when I make no sense and I won’t be offended! Haha

Fourth and second are very different. I taught middle school orchestra for six years. This summer I moved across the country with my fiancé and took a job in elementary music, which also means I am writing my own new curriculum. I’ve had to do so much research but the kids are sweet and I’m getting the hang of it. I’m getting married in November next year but in a different state so I’m trying to use my breaks to meet with vendors.

You have my dream job! Middle school orchestra! How awesome. That was by far my best time ever when I was a part of an orchestra. Now I'm just a soloist. But yes. Lots of changes all at once are exciting but stressful. Keep plugging away at the planning.

Yes I love orchestra so much. But this year I had to choose to be a career woman or a wife. So I chose wife and gave it up. It was so hard saying goodbye to my students. Getting my foot in the door and hoping to get another orchestra job in the next few years.
