Dedicated February 2021

a lot of flowers

We're getting married in Hawai'I and want our wedding to be super lush and aren't really limited much by budget (which tbh, may be part of why we have this difficulty at all). The thing is, we are also having a massive wedding (a thousand people), heavy on flowers. 8 bouquets, 7 boutonnieres (my FH is going shirtless with a henna tattoo across his arms, back and chest), 14 leis, 2 flower girls, 180+ arrangements for cocktail hour and our reception) add to that a garland to go all of the way down both sides of the aisle. Our wedding is over a year away. Am I being crazy, overly cautious or should we have more than one florist for this job. I don't think our florist is incompetent, I am concerned about overloading our vendors bc (apparently) nobody on Oahu, where our wedding is going to be, has worked such a huge wedding.

I have similar concerns for our baker and caterer although the caterer, I know can hire day-of help.
Are vendors likely to inform a bride or planner if they need help? Should we get another florist and split the work?

I would ask each vendor. Like photography, they may have someone already in mind to help them split the work and therefore they may include it in the overall costs.

I would talk to your florist about it, she may have someone she can hire to work with which would be better than you just hiring someone else because the person she chooses to work with would help make everything look more cohesive rather than having separate florists working on it.

Also, holy crap, 1000 people?! How do you know that many people?! Lol

I agree with previous posts. I would definitely speak to your planner, venue and each vendor separately bc the vendors might have other in mind to help them that they are comfortable with vs just help you hire — your planner should be able to help you decide on things as well as far as if you need extras

Wow, I've never heard of such a large wedding. I don't even know how it's possible!

My thing is, with almost every vendor we've been in contact with having maxed out around 500 guests, I am not certain they'll even know how much help they'll actually need. Additionally one of our flowers is a more fragile flower so there are some things that have to be done the day of or day before instead of earlier on. Yes, we're dead set on these flowers.

    Good idea! Thanks.

Also, lol. It's not difficult split between the two of us. Large families, lots of friends, huge church family, 1000 people isn't difficult (we may actually be leaving some people out! Unintentionally, of course!)

Lol. Each has their own struggles. Believe it or not, HE actually wants the big wedding. So, we're glamming it up, not holding back and having fun. 😁🤷🏾‍♀️😁
I hope it's as breathtaking as everybody hopes.

Lol. I've heard this sentiment so many times, it now makes me laugh. When my FH initially said a thousand, I thought he was pulling my leg. Almost none of our vendors have had 1000 people for a wedding. 🤷🏾‍♀️
