a lot of Diy, experiences, regrets?

mary, on November 3, 2019 at 1:12 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13
Our wedding is in a couple weeks and we are very economical. Nothing fancy or super detailed. I am taking care of centerpieces, flowers for the wedding party and favors. What are your thoughts on DIY? Do you regret it?

Our wedding is 20 days away. We DIYed our signage, our whiskey barrel head guest book, our card box, and our centerpieces. We will be (kind of) DIYing our florals, however, our florist offers a package where they have an instructor there to help you put the pieces together. As long as you're realistic about your abilities and give yourself sufficient time, I don't see why you'd have any regrets.

My wedding is in 3 days and I DIYed. My venue was so gorgeous, so I kept it simple:

-Flowers: Hobby Lobby. Wanted something to last, but I had to select and arrange them myself. A little challenging, but I eventually found an arraignment I loved.

-Music: Thanks, Spotify. I selected my songs, made a playlist, confirmed with fiancé, downloaded (in case I lose WiFi day of), and I’m having my bridesmaid’s husband run it.

-Dinner: it’s only a 10 guest wedding, at a gorgeous botanical garden estate, so we’re doing hot apple cider (in case it’s cold), bought a dispenser for that, as well as finding recipes to make tea finger sandwiches! My man doesn’t have to be at the venue until 1:45 that day, so we’re doing the knife work day before, and he’ll make them morning of. Then he’ll drop them off at my mother’s to stay chilled, and she’ll bring them to the wedding.

-Invitations: I used a picture of a eucalyptus sprig (my colors, and in my bouquet) from Unsplash (free gorgeous photos), and used a Canva template to add text. Typed up different versions, downloaded as a pdf, bought textured paper from Joanns, and printed them myself!

Everything else wasn’t super diy, but inexpensive and worth it. Sister is doing my makeup, a blowout salon is washing and curling my hair for $30, we got my man’s suit at Kohl’s, we’re using shoes we already own, buying mini cakes from a local baker, rings from Amazon believe it or not.
    yay budgeting!! Smiley laugh

I’m doing a lot of DIY.

I hand stamped our Save the Dates. It’s my favorite hobby so I really enjoyed it. My mother helped too.

I’m planning to make the boutonnières for my FH, my sons and both of our fathers. I’m ordering corsages for myself and FH’s daughter, our mothers and our DOC/my best friend.

I’ve started on centerpieces. Trying out a few things. I’m actually pretty excited about this part. My mother and my future stepdaughter are helping.

My mother and I will be hand stamping the invitations. I love the personal touch and we really enjoy it.

Best friend and I will be making the cupcakes. Mini and regular size in different flavors.

FH is making the arch and building our cupcake stand. He’s also making a few signs, cornhole boards, a giant Jenga game and a ladderball set.

I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.

I am DIYing everything for our wedding except for our clothes and rings. It is a RIDICULOUS amount of work...but I wouldn't have it any other way! I love crafting and making the things that will be used at our celebration makes them even more special. Zero regrets here! (so far anyway...still have 293 days soooo......lol)

I'm A DIY A BRIDE ALL THEEE WAYYY!!!!! from the flower girl pales I created from the dollar tree, my own cash box out of picture frames, I folded some napkins for decorating the table settings. Being as though my big day is on the 23rd of this month I also incorporated pumpkins for thanks giving. My colors are apple green, purple and gold, still have a springish feel but in fall. I love the dollar tree and Michael's and a good second hand store. I have no regrets what so ever. And I get to use alot of what I created for my home. And some I will sell at my neighborhood's flea market.

All of this looks so pretty! I definitely have simple tastes and was able to save quite a bit of money on my DIY stuff. I don't expect the flowers (boquets and stuff) to come out perfect, but as I said I'm not picky.
