a little sad

Shawann, on May 4, 2020 at 11:03 AM Posted in Planning 1 18
Hello everyone

I titled this a little sad because I'm planning my wedding and I'm so sad that my mom will not be there. She unexpectedly passed away in 2014 and I never thought I'd have to do something so great without her! Its stressful enough to plan alone but this hurts. Hoping for the few close friends I have help me get this together

I feel you! My sister passed away in 2006 and my brother in 2010. I really wish they could be there physically but I’m going to integrate things that were their’s so that their presence will be felt.
Maybe you could do things to honor her and make her feel present throughout the planning and during your wedding day 😊

Thank you Rachel I appreciate you for taking the time to respond. I'm wondering if I even want to do something big? Maybe just small and sweet. Our children from other situations and a couple of friends and family 🤷🏽‍♀️

I lost my mom 18 years ago, and it's still really hard doing this without her. The thing I try to remember is that she would be so happy for me right now. I want to believe she is smiling down on me from wherever she is.

It still really sucks, planning my wedding without her. But she's in my heart, and my head. Luckily I have other family, like my sister, and my FMIL, who are helping me fill that gap. They are wonderful, and I'm so grateful for them!! Lean on your loved ones for support. This can still be a really fun and beautiful time for you!!

Small and sweet may be good while all this covid business is still going on and then a larger celebration with both of your extended families whenever it's safer, that's what I think we're gonna end up doing. Wishing you the bestSmiley heart

Thank you!! We were 6/20/2020 originally but we postponed to 8/29/2020 but we're still gonna get married on 6/20. With the way things are starting to look idk if we're gonna be able to have the wedding with all of our guests on 8/29 either so we're hoping for the best and gonna make further choices come June 🤞🏾

Thank you! I'm in PA and got my dress at David's bridal, I looked at 2 other local places first but David's bridal had the same dress for like $800 cheaper but still beautiful and great quality so check them out whenever they open. Good luck!!

Hi - I'm so sorry about your Mom. I lost my Dad in 1990 and still miss him. My mom will be 80 next month, so I feel you. Hang in there, she is with you in spirit.

I lost my mom almost 2 years ago, a few months after I got engaged. Wedding planning is so difficult without your mom, especially going to the bridal showcases or dress shopping and seeing everyone there with their moms. I was feeling better about it until covid19 started and I wanted more than anything for her to be able to help me decide if we should postpone or not.

I’ve tried to incorporate her in different ways. I went dress shopping with her best friend. I found her wedding veil and intend to wear it. I’ve been trying to talk to my future MIL more too. I know it sounds stupid but she’s there with you in your heart, and my mom will send me little signs every now and then to remind me of that. Much love to you ❤️❤️

    Wow Katherine,
I hate that you feel the exact same way I do. My mom sends me signs all the time as well. I'm glad you have your MIL but I don't even have that my fiance and his mom never had a bond his father raised him and he is deceased. My father is in a nursing home so I'm praying for him in there. I believe I'll have my son and his godfather give me away💞 and I believe my godsister will be the one going dress shopping with me. I have a aunt that has always been a 2nd mother to me. So I believe I will have the support but just know I will be crying walking down the to me soon to be husband and neither of our parents will be there! Our children will be there but missing the parents will be huge. I know she is in my heart and everytime I look in the mirror I see her. Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement. I pray all goes well for you and your future husband 💞🙏🏽
