A-Line to Fit and Flare is it Possible???

Future Mrs. Adeyemo, on January 19, 2014 at 11:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Another question for my fellow brides I bought a dress 2 years ago when my fiancé first proposed. But that's when I did not know what I really wanted. Now that I do I don't want the dress anymore. But I came to the realization that the fiancé and I are not balling like that so I can't buy another dress. So is there a way to change my dress from A-Line to a Fit and Flare???

Alterations would probably cost more than a new dress from DB. I might just try to sell the old one.

While I don't think it would to ask a seamstress what the alterations would cost (or even if it's possible) I agree it's probably easier to try to sell your dress and start over. I personally prefer a-line to fit and flare, but that's just me Smiley winking When was the last time you tried the dress on? What made you fall in love with the dress in the first place?

I agree with the other girls.

Are you SURE you don't want the dress anymore?

I think it's normal to second guess your dress sometimes if you see a dress you love

after you've already purchased your dress but like Brittany said, there's a reason you

fell in love with it in the first place. Try it back on and see how you feel in it and if it still

doesn't do it for you, you may have to start over.

Definitely talk to someone that is REALLY good with alterations. I think it would be possible to change the skirt, but it would depend on beading (if there is any), the material, the closure. If not, selling it on preownedweddingdresses.com or Craigslist isn't a bad option. Especially since the dress is new & unworn.

I know I second guessed a lot when it came to picking my dress, even put two on layaway & then canceled. You'll know when it's really THE ONE. I had 2 almosts & 5 appointments before I felt confident enough in my decision.

I would put it up for sale and go from there.

It might not even be possible - sometimes the structure of a dress just can't be changed that drastically! it wouldn't turn out looking right at all. I'd definitely try to sell it and go find a new one

I agree with GameCox alterations will cost more than a new dress. Show us the dress!

The cost of the alterations would greatly exceed the cost of another dress. There is enough fabric for it to be done but it is likely not even possible depending on the decor of the gown. You may try selling it and getting something else.

Show us your dress and hopefully we can jointly give you some advice. If you don't want to show us your dress, you can take to a seamstress to get a quote. You can go to the local cleaners, craigslist, or back to the bridal shop where you 1st purchased it. I'm sure, a professional will be able to advise you. Good luck
