A-line dresses with hoop skirt: pros and cons?

MrsC2B, on August 23, 2017 at 4:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

I have an A-line dress. I tried it on at the salon with a hoop skirt and I could move and sit comfortably. But now I am thinking about logistics- if I am wearing a hoop skirt underneath, I will probably need to have my dress slipped over my head (as opposed to stepping into it). Does that mean I will have to get hair and makeup done after putting on the dress? Also, I am guessing it will be a pain to use the restroom with that contraption? (Sorry for the blunt question).

Ladies who have/ had hoop skirts, would you have any tips or advice? Also, did you guys get a crinoline attached directly to your dress? Did it help in anyway?

My petticoat is made of layered tulle. It's a lot easier than the hoop skirt with the metal hoops. I wore one with the metal hoops before with a ball gown dress. Those were a pain to go to the bathroom in. As far as makeup have someone help you put it on over your head.

I'm in your same situation, (A line dress with hoop skirt petticoat) and hadn't thought about hair and makeup with the dress going over my head!! I'll see how much it musses my hair at my next fitting.

I don't anticipate that answering natures call will be any more difficult... I plan to do what other WW users have recommended and sit backwards so I'm facing the toilet bowl with my skirt gathered up off the floor. Should be no problem.

My dress is the same, the shop lady says you put the hoop inside the dress and step into both at the same time so it's not to go over your head and mess your hair and makeup.

I'm planning on one person holding them together in the dress, ill step in and fasten the hoop then pull the dress up

Romeantic, that's brilliant! My first fitting is in a few days, I will attempt this and see how it goes. Thanks!

I opted against one for the whole over the head thing. I went with an extra poofy a-line slip.

Daniella, can you tell me where you got it from? I will search Etsy etc when I get home from work, but your information could help.
