a couple questions

Ali, on May 27, 2019 at 4:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
So, I know the groom isn't supposed to see the dress or bride before the wedding/first look, but can the bride see the room/his clothes before then??? Is there a tradition that says no? We know about "something borrowed, something blue, and a lucky sixpence in her shoe", are there any others? Tia!

I don't think there is anything that says the bride can't see the groom's clothes before the wedding. That being said, I helped my FH pick out his tux but I won't be seeing him in it before the wedding (we chose the style together but I won't be going with him to get it fitted). I think it's more special to see him in it for the first time at our wedding... I've never seen him in a tux before either Smiley smile

Agree with Jen - that's a personal choice only you and your FH can make together! Some couples don't mind seeing the other's wedding attire beforehand. It's all about personal preference - there's no right or wrong way to do this Smiley smile

Actually, there is no reason the groom cannot see the bride in her gown, except old superstitions, or because some brides want to surprise the groom. But others show the groom the gown early in, so they can look forward to the bride wearing it, and enjoy the anticipation for weeks or months. After I narrowed down my dress choices to a few favorites, I let him and my mom help me choose. And many grooms do come to pick out gowns with brides, usually when they have tried them on and are down to a few choices. When I did alterations and measuring in bridal salons, I found that lots and lots if grooms see the dress before it us ordered. . . . It is up to you.

Not that I know of! My FH has a general idea of what my dress will look like but never had seen the actual dress. We picked out his outfit together and I’m excited to see him in it.
As far as our other items, here’s what I’ve got -

Something Old - We are shadowboxing some old items from previous dates we’ve been on such as movie ticket stubs, train tickets, concert tickets, etc.
Something New - Right now I’m planning on my shoes (I got new cowboy boots) but that may change
Something Borrowed - I haven’t quite figured this one out yet, maybe I can see if my sister has some ideas
Something Blue - My garter is being custom made by one of my Bridesmaids moms and she’s incorporating some blue

Many many years ago getting married on a Saturday was bad luck.
Finding a spider in your dress however was a good thing.
