Any tips for a super hot wedding day in a 100 pound dress? Regretting my ball gown dress. Will be packing the dress I wore for my bridal shower and rehearsal dinner to wear for a third time just incase I'm super over my dress at the reception LOL. Maybe I'll put an ice pack into my bra!? Anyone else...

Anyone else facing extreme heat this weekend for their wedding?

Also this is meant to be a lighthearted post -- I am extremely aware things could be worse and I'm thinking about Texas Smiley sad

I hope you can work something out for your guests. I get heat exhaustion quickly. No way could I be in that heat, even for a few minutes, especially all dressed up.

Glad to hear you're trying to figure out an alternative. I don't think there's much you could do to possibly cool yourself off. I was sweating in my dress in-doors with AC on during alterations lol. Your guests will thank you, too.

I hope you find a solution! I appreciate that you took advice rather than hiding your thread and running away Smiley smile

@Mel I am so glad you are reconsidering and trying to find another plan to make sure your guests are comfortable.

I am going to a wedding soon in the south that is almost all outdoors. I bought a pretty, backless dress for such occasion, but at least the bride let me know the ceremony and cocktail hour are outside. I fear for FH, that man can SWEAT!

Really glad you are considering your guests now! For all the people that get hung up on their "vision" and such, it's a shame when their guests' safety isn't even considered. Everyone says it's only a 20 minute ceremony etc but people don't consider when guests arrive early so they don't fuck up your entrance, or the photographer wants to take a few extra photos so you start to run late, blah blah blah. Also, 20 minutes is all some people need to get heat stroke.

I hope you can figure out a plan with your venue that makes everyone comfortable!

You could always put a fan under your table. On another note, she wasn't anticipating it to be 96 degrees.. you're supposed to prepare for all weather though.

Man, why would you do that your guests? Outdoor weddings in September. Nicely done. Anyways, try those cooling towels from Amazon. They do work.

Tricia, why don't you read all the comments first?? She is fixing that problem with her venue now.

I'm glad you are working on this. I really hope you understand the severity of the situation. You CANNOT have this wedding outside in temperatures like that. You are over 20 degrees higher the maximum air temperature for prolonged exposure. You cannot have the ceremony outside. You cannot have the reception outside. You HAVE to move or cancel. People could die.

I'm glad you are working with your venue. Smiley smile We wanted an outdoor ceremony and then move indoors for the reception. Since our wedding was in early August, we always had a backup plan for an indoor ceremony. I wasn't as worried about rain than I was about the heat. Thankfully the weather was absolutely perfect for our day and we were able to hold our short, outdoor ceremony.

I went to an outdoor ceremony two weeks ago. The reception was held in a barn that unfortunately did not have air. The space was beautiful, but it was hot and rather miserable.

@H didn't realize it was in California. Some places are cooler by September though, but depends what city in California. Weather is unpredictable

Medically that's an unacceptable risk for a LOT of people. I know you're trying to fix this, and it should be your only priority at this point.

You'll need to rent a tent with A/C, 98° is waaay too hot. You may have several no-shows.

My cousin had her wedding in August in PA years ago. 95 degrees out..and We got this lil thing in PA called humidity. Outside, under a tent with the ceremony in full sun. It was pure HELL. Under the tent, there was no air. Like..it was like someone sucked the air out. I will never forget sitting at that wedding and wanting to just go home.
