My fiancé and I recently got engaged (woohoo!) and just decided on 12/29/17 for our date, which is a Friday. Our ceremony and reception will all be at the same venue. Also is this going to make us look totally cheap??

I would say full meal. Unless you had a daytime wedding around brunch. 1030 am ish then light food would be ok

When I go to dinner on a Friday or Saturday night it's usually around 7 or 8pm so I think people would expect to eat dinner there. Also like pp's said, people will be getting ready for your wedding and may not eat before they come.

Yeah, you should feed the people. You are inviting them for a wedding, that means you are providing dinner.

I definitely would want dinner for that--if it was just apps, I would be starving by 10 and probably end up cutting out early to grab take out.

So I know I asked for people's honest opinions BUT DAMN! Some of you are straight up brutal! I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing with all this wedding planning and I thought throwing up a quick post on here would help. We have plenty of money offered to us but I'd rather not spend my parent's life savings on my wedding! I'm sitting here wondering if I'll ever post another question in this site again...

Not one person was "brutal" everyone just gave an honest opinion. If you don't want to spend the money, don't. Cut your guest list and buy dinner for a smaller crowd.

I'm genuinely curious, what is the point if stating, "I'm sitting here wondering if I'll ever post another question in this site again." If you dont want to post again, just don't. Publicly announcing it literally serves no purpose, unless you are expecting tons of apologies and people asking you not to leave. If you are at a party you dont like do you scream out that you dont like the party so you are leaving?

No one has been brutal; everyone has been helpful.

And pay for your own wedding. Parent life savings problem solved!
