8 year Old Girl in a tutu?

Nicole, on April 2, 2012 at 1:28 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Quick question... because I know nothing about children, and cannot remember what I would have done as an eight year old...

Would and 8 year old girl look cute in a tutu? Or are they too grown up at that age to even want to wear such a thing?

I have two FGs... one is 4, and one is 8... I wanted them to match. But want them to be comfortable. There mother is stationed in the Azores, so I can't really ask her...

Any opinions?

This is similar to the style of tutu: http://www.etsy.com/listing/91360315/atutudes-rainbow-tutu-dress

Pic of my flower girl attached... shes a grown up 8 Smiley smile

I think it would still be cute on her! But I'm also not 8, so idk how she thinks haha.

Oh I love those a lot! Maybe - she might see it as a bit "older" which she might like.

Could you ask her if she would wear the tutu? I think they are both cute options, especially the second one if you are having a vintage theme Smiley smile

#1 is more for a toddler. My FH has a 9 yo and she definitely would not have been comfortable wearing something like that last year.

#2 is the better choice! I could see her in that!

I wish I could! But even getting their sizes was a month long process lol. (They are in Orlando with their dad's family)...

And yes! Our theme is southern-vintage. Im thinking this might work if I can get her to match colors Smiley smile

@LaurenFM-- I thought so lol. I could probably get away with it on the 4 year old... but Jayla might punch me lol

Have they told you how they felt about it? I think the 2nd one is very cute!

Yea I would say #1 is perfect for 1-5 yr olds, but anything over that it's too 'child'ish. They like to think they are "pre"teens when they are 7+ and want to dress more like a teen then a little girl LOL.

My niece to be is 8 and she recently wore a tutu the other day. It's one of the newest fashion "ins" at her school. She looked adorable and rocked it like a little fashionista.

I should add this wasn't your typical ballerina tutu. Think Punky Brewster meets Rainbow Brite and black accessories. But it really was cute on her.

I think it's one of those really strange in-between gawky phases where there's probably a lot of variation from kid to kid. I was already wearing a training bra at the age of 8 and I was into pre-teen stuff like cassette tapes, lip gloss, and Sweet Valley High books. Third grade was a very odd year. Smiley smile

I wouldn't try to match them up too much. That might make the 8 year old feel weird.
