8 or 10 guests per table?

Olivia, on March 1, 2019 at 4:04 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 15

I was originally planning for 8 guests per table. However, since I'm having about 220 guests, I figured 10 guests per table would be better in order to have a large dance floor. Tables are 72". Any thoughts or suggestions?

Id say fit as many as you can at a table, just make sure it wont make the guests feel to squished

What size are the tables? If they’re 60” I would do 8 because sitting 10 at that size table is going to be squished.

They are 72". Sorry, I should've probably added that.

I was told that our 60" round tables can fit 10, but COMFORTABLY fit 8. I'd be a little worried putting 10 to a table and them be too squished/uncomfortable (especially if your guests range in size). However, I am running into the same issue....200+ guests and limited space. I think I am going to try to have tables that have kids at them fit 9 or 10, but keep adult only tables at 8.

In that case, 10 would probably work. Can you set a table up and see just how well the chairs fit around it and how much space there would be?

    Danielle-

Yes, that's exactly what I'll be doing this weekend. Just stressed out about it because I originally wanted 8 per table but now I'm thinking I'd rather have more space for dancing. I'm thankful that our venue has plenty of different size tables.

Oh, definitely put 10 at 72” tables! 8 is a great fit for 60” , 10 is perfect for 72”

we had a mix of 8 or 9 at each of our 60” tables and it worked great

For a 72” table, 10 is totally appropriate.

We are going to be pretty packed at our venue so after dinner, we’re actually going to push and/or get rid of a couple tables. We’ll be able to move a table or two after the buffet is taken down, and if we need to, we can push our bridal party and family tables to make room or get rid of them if necessary. Everyone at those tables is fine with it. Most of the people that will be there are big dancers and won’t be at their tables much anyway.

With 72” you’re totally fine! You can do 10 max at a 60” but it’s definitely tight. 8 is deal for 60”, so 72” with 10 would work well.

I think 10 would be fine! Just enough room for arm space and like you said, more room for the dance floor!

Agree, that you can do 10 comfortably at 72" tables. Most daughter's tables were 60" with 7 or 8 guests, but we had two groups we couldn't figure out a way to do anything with them except have 10 at a table. Our venue coordinator said no problem, we'd just use a couple 72" tables. We had chargers, and 3 or 4 glasses per person, bread plates, centerpieces, etc., and it worked fine to have 10 at 72" tables. (I sat at one of them, so from personal experience I can say it isn't too crowded.) Smiley winking

So are they 6 foot banquet tables? Or round tables?
