70-80 guests... will it be fun?

H, on December 1, 2021 at 5:25 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 15
Background: our wedding is in the US but requires flying for over 90% of our guests. We are 10 days out from the RSVP deadline and have 58 yes, pending to hear back from 117 (this includes the plus ones).
We realistically expect 70-80 total guests and are curious if anyone has attended a wedding with this many guests and had it be super fun and high energy? Did it feel small and lame or was it a great time, or something in between? Just would like to have realistic expectations!

That’s a good amount of guests! I don’t think you have anything to worry about. We had a small wedding with 17 guests and it still was super fun

Thank you! Part of my concern is that this is our venue and I’m worried it may feel empty?70-80 guests... will it be fun? 1

I don’t think so. It will be nice and not overcrowded, especially once the dancing starts

Beautiful venue! That's 10 tables of 8, should work perfectly!

I've been to a couple weddings with around 80 people and honestly i really enjoyed it. i think weddings that size are a good amount because you'll get adequate amount of time with people and yet it's still a lot of people

I had 50 people in total at the wedding (this is including me and my husband). We had a backyard wedding and invited only our closest family and friends. We know our crowd and they all pretty much like to party and drink lol. So, with that being said it was SO MUCH FUN!

When my husband's ex step dad got married they had about 100 people at their wedding and it was still fun because my husband and I made the most of it. But a lot of the crowd was a little older so we had some leave early and then we had those that didn't want to dance or socialize too much. Later on that night when we made our way to a bar, the bride expressed how she was a little disappointed that some of her guests had left earlier than what she had anticipated. But she also did say that she still had lots of fun because she too was making the most of it.

So, with that being said it all depends on your crowd. And as long as you make the most of it then it will definitely be fun! Smiley smile

We invited around 70 but due to traveling we don’t think that many will come. I’m worried about it but have to remember what the day is really about!

The personalities of your guests will make the vibe fun or boring. The size is irrelevant. You can have a couple people total who are a blast to be with at the same time you can have 200 people who are very introverted and don’t interact. Those who want to be there will make it happen.

We've been to two weddings with around 50 guests. The first was a cocktail style reception with passed appetizers. It was intimate, it was relatively chill, but it was still one of the most fun weddings I've been to. Then again, we're not big partyers and good food + an open bar is usually enough for me to have fun!

The second had a pizza food truck and an open bar in an Airbnb courtyard and I also had a blast! It had a similar energy to the previous one - intimate, casual (not boots and jeans casual, but easy going casual), and fun.

I think it will depend a lot on your group! We went to a 75 person wedding full of partyers and the floor was full all night, but a 200 person wedding where the floor was completely empty.

Plan whatever sounds fun to you, and your guests will follow 💛
