Every single one of those is why we chose to see each other before the ceremony. DH being very emotional it was the best decision. He was more calm and he got out all of his crying before having to say our vows!

We didn't do a first look and I'm super happy and have no regrets about that decision but we also had a lot of time for photos so we weren't worried about a time crunch. Even still, I don't think it's a tradition I would have been able to break.

We didn't do a first look and like kaylarae we're 100% happy with our decision. We also had plenty of time for photos and still were able to enjoy our guests to the fullest. None of those reasons are convincing enough. Also, DH wanted the moment the chapel doors open to be the first time he saw me and since he's a man who asks for little I didn't see the point in pushing the matter.

Also, my DH and I spent most of the reception and the ride to the reception talking with each other and reliving the day as it was happening. So we definitely feel as though we spent the day together.

Yea, we're keeping that one aspect of our wedding "traditional".No first look for us. We were thinking of doing a "first touch" though!

I'm an anxious person by nature. He helps to calm that. This is the main reason why we are, but all the reasons listed add to our choice.

I didn't read the article, but we loved our first look. We were both really jittery and nervous before hand, so it helped us calm down and just take some time to be together.

I respect everyone's decisions. There really is no right or wrong way of doing it. It is your wedding after all. Some people choose to do a first look and some people don't and that is completely and totally fine Smiley smile I just remember seeing a thread, last week I think, about a lady debating on doing a first look and I came across this today and thought I would share it with those who are debating on to do it or not.

@kassy that is why we are doing our first look. We want to take some time before all the craziness happens to just be together and pray together and have those few moments where it is just us since we will be surround by people the whole day.

I love the idea of a first look. We will be pressed for time and want to do photos before the ceremony, but I desperately want pictures of the first look moment for us, just the two of us, with no aisle and no people and no jitters.

I can totally understand why some people do a first look but it's not for us. FH is not an overly expressive, emotionally, (He feels it, but he has a good poker face) and I like the traditional aspect of not seeing each other first.

I have been trying to decide on this, and I need to do it soon! I like first look photos, I think they can be pretty neat. However, I am kind of wanting that moment of anticipation of him seeing walk down the aisle. The other reason that I am thinking of not doing photos before hand is that my ceremony is at 1:00 and I don't think it will be very easy to get everyone where they need to be and ready early enough to do photos before hand.

This is a completely personal issue and the decision belongs to the bride and the groom, the bride and the bride, or the groom and the groom. I wouldn't have considered it, and I wouldn't have cared if Hemingway wrote the persuasive article. If you want to do, do it. If you don't, don't. Anyone skilled in persuasive writing could make a case either way (regardless of their person opinion). Just make your choice based on what feels right to you as a couple.

Ha I love reason three - you get to have a moment alone with your other half. With a photographer to catch every moment of course. *eyeroll*.

'you can set up a romantic moment that you can really enjoy. Laugh, hug, kiss, cry- you don't have to hold anything back because you don't have to worry about anyone watching.' apart from the photographer. I don't have an issue with first looks - but to even suggest it's about having a quiet moment with your FH/FW is strange to me when it's all about the photo op.

I'd be interested to know if people would still do first looks if they didn't have a photographer with them.

There's no right or wrong way of doing it. But FH and I just can't break the tradition. Everything else is non-traditional with our wedding though!
