6/18/22 - coming up

PermaGrin, on November 11, 2021 at 2:46 PM Posted in Planning 2 25
Hey guys! We are less than 8 months out! I feel very far behind- but think I’m just stressing:
So far I have:
- venue (with catering and cake) booked- photographer- band- day of coordinator- justice of the piece- lose hold on outdoor ceremony site ( they can’t confirm until January and it’s right next to the reception location where we can hold the ceremony if necessary)- my dress being ordered since September- flowers are DIY ( FB enjoys putting together small arrangements and we are only doing minimal flowers)
Save the dates sent
I feel very far behind!!! How are you all feeling as we are in single digit months away!!!

I’m also getting married on June 18th! I also feel extremely behind, but I’m trying not to stress about it. My biggest concern right now is finding a makeup artist who isn’t already booked for that date! I didn’t realize that you need to book that so far in advance. I may end up just having a friend who is good with makeup do it(I am absolutely horrible at it, and I don’t wear much to begin with). I am in the process of getting all of our Save the Dates out and putting together a list of things that will hopefully be on sale for Black Friday! Happy planning!

I would definitely say you're not far behind! I'd work on nailing down a wedding party look so your attendants can get outfits ordered in time, but you've got all the big vendors I can think of booked and that's the hardest part!

I'm 9 months out and just have the florist left to sign a contract with. Using the WeddingWire checklist has honestly made it feel sooooo good. All the big stuff is taken care of, and now I get to focus on the fun stuff!

You could compromise and use one of Bouq's wedding packages! We were considering this but decided the headache of shipping our flowers to our destination wedding wasn't worth it.

Their bridal bouquets, bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and centerpieces all come arranged already. The arch decorations and ceremony pieces (I wish I could tell you what that one is but I can't) are the only DIY arrangements in their packages! They have really pretty collections that fit a range of styles and they flowers will arrive a few days in advance so they're fully bloomed by your big day!

What I will say is the florist I ultimately went with was only $3 more than the equivalent was with one of the Bouq's premium collections, so it might be worth it to at least get some quotes from florists. But I'm also not doing centerpieces or arch arrangements, and those are where the cost savings from Bouq's really come into play! If you have a small bridal party that will also help!

I did my bestie's hair and makeup for her wedding, and I think as long as your friend is accessible for you to do a trial with (for her sake and yours) this could work! She doesn't wear much makeup very often, and I did it when we were in college for all her special occassions so it made a ton of sense. If it's someone who doesn't usually do other people's makeup you could offer to pay her or get her a cute little thank you gift?

A friend of mine had a BM's college-aged sister do their hair and makeup and then paid her about half of a what she would have paid a professional for it!

I think that’s a great idea! I was planning on paying her, but I wasn’t sure how much. Luckily, she lives fairly close, so a trial could be a fun girls day!

My save the dates got lost in the mail so they had to remake them and resend them so haven’t got those out yet 😩😩 so you’re doing better than me! Just know everything will come together just keep pushing! Try not to stress too much!

I'm getting married June 18 as well! Where are you feeling far behind?

Are you having a wedding party? If so, I would concentrate on that next. Ask your bridesmaids and groomsmen and get their attire situated. Especially bridesmaids dresses. We ordered my girls' about a month and a half ago and they told me there are production delays with those as well.

I recommend booking your hair and makeup artists soon too. I booked mine months ago and found that many are already booked for June. I think with the backlog of covid weddings, it is driving the demand up for things even more than normal.

Another thing I've already done is book a hotel block of rooms near our venue.

Next on my list are a shuttle service to/from the hotel and venue and a rehearsal dinner venue.

I don't think you sound like you're that far behind.

I think in normal, pre-covid life you didn't have to book them so far out. I think there's just so many weddings that got postponed, it's causing a huge demand for 2022. I've found this with a lot of different vendors. I booked my hair and makeup people months ago, and found a lot were booked. I would definitely ask around for word of mouth recommendations. That's what I did.

I’m using my regular girl- luckily she’s very close to the venue so we will travel to her shop and make a morning out of it!
I like the idea I’d seeing someone you know us good and available. I’m not very into the super done up look- so my usual stylist will have me looking 10X better than if I attempted on my own!

I’m also only doing bouquets - maybe corsages for the moms… I’m thinking hankershifts for the boys! Wedding flowers are so expensive! My FH is a hardening guru though- so we are taking a risk and making the bouquets together … we will see how that goes!
