'6 Things you should never post [on social media] when you get engaged'

When bored or procrastinating on my phone I'm always down for some wedding/engagement themed clickbait, and I think this article gives fair advice lol What do you think? Are there more things that you think should be kept of social media?...

We changed our relationship status like a week after we were engaged and posted a cute photo. Nothing else wedding related has been posted on social media from me or FH. My best friend, who will be my bridesman, loves posting wedding stuff and tagging me. I had to ask him to stop. It hasn't caused any problems as all of our mutual friends are invited to the wedding, but it was still super annoying. He's just very over the top.

There's this one girl I have on IG, Snapchat and FB. She recently got married and the days leading up to her wedding date all she did was bitch. She was a week away and was moaning about how she was bloated just days before her wedding. At one point even posting that her wedding guests were asking what presents she wanted and that she wanted clothes for her baby and money because she's broke as fuck.

Then the day came and the entire thing was done at her house and they self-catered (served pork chops) and in the pictures her little baby was just in a diaper because their a.c unit wasn't working. She was 21 (turned 22 like 2 days later) and she had her younger sister do the photography, a friend did her make up and her cousin or her cousin's husband was the officiant. She spent the night of complaining all over social media and even the next morning about how her mom ate all the pork chops and is still bitching. It's been like a month already.

The slightest part of me wants to feel bad because it was a total train wreck and she's young but I'm not much older than her and every single thing she did and the "wedding" she "hosted" was completely unacceptable. You don't have to be a certain age not to be a shitty person or to have a brain. At 8 years old I had more common sense and decency than this poor girl will ever have.

To be very honest, I shouldn't have expected any more because she complains day in and day out when the life she's living is actually kinda cushy and everyone enables her. She doesn't even work, her parents take care of her and she lives with them. Her poor husband even moved to Idaho or Iowa for work. The only things she does is take care of the baby (her family helps) or do laundry. The moment she moans about something everyone comes to her aid and coddles her and it's tiring. I don't even know why I follow her anymore, I guess it's because her baby is really cute.

    Constant. Updates.

I freaking hate those. One girl I knew talked 24/7 about her wedding in person and on social media. Everyone was so sick of hearing about it for the 8 month engagement. Turned out to be a huge disappointment too (ZERO ettiqutte and the cheapest wedding ever)

We posted a few engagement photos and will probably post a few more wedding photos after the day and perhaps a "we're married" status.

One of my friends did a countdown for an entire year before her wedding! It'd be like "245 days till I marry this handsome man. Gee whizz I can't believe we're such soulmates." every day! It was painful—especially because she wasn't inviting everyone.

@PopTart - We're both on FB, we just opt to not be 'friends'. He posts about his car and tech stuff, I post fluffy kittens and derpy internet memes. Neither one of us are interested in what the other posts, and if something comes up that I want him to see, we live together. I can 'share' it with him in person Smiley winking

We only posted our engagement, and when we went to pick up our marriage license. That's pretty much it.

Like many others- just the picture I have now was posted but AFTER calling family and close friends. I remember knowing this one girl on FB post every day with her countdown and then she made a facebook rant about how people just assume they're invited. She was nuts. I had to unfollow that craziness.

I definitely cringe at the RSVP facebook posts as well. PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL PEOPLE. It blows my mind how much people share on facebook/social media in general though.....

I am someone who runs into people I haven't seen in real life in a while and often hears "oh my god I LOVE everything you post on fb and How ANGRY you are!" Basically, I am angry and militant and use it as my way to yell about the world. I think there are a bunch of people who know that black lives matter now because of my fb rants. The only wedding related posts I've made is how gross and self indulgent I sometimes feel planning a wedding when it feels like the world is falling down around us and then ask people to call their senators. I'm real fun at parties.

I posted wedding stuff twice. Once when we announced our engagement and once at the cake testing.

My status was changed to engaged and that is pretty much it. I created a private group for the wedding party so that we could keep everyone posted and provide a space for us to communicate as a group about the wedding.

I posted that I was engaged, and then a vague "30 days to go!" Status and that's it. I've had friends make several posts, ask for opinions on venues, colors, ect

We post NOTHING... my mom does tag me in some wedding related posts though (even after we asked her not to, sometimes tags happen), thankfully she also tags MOH (who's getting married a month before me) but not FH, so each time we can make it seem like it's for MOH's wedding (people know she's getting married)

@PrettyWitty&Gay - I would SO invite you to a party!!! I have lots of friends who are passionate like you and I have nothing but love and admiration for them!

We posted a video of the proposal (it was pretty epic) but that's it. No pics of my ring, no countdowns, nothing of the sort.

A family member recently got engaged, and the first post announcing their engagement also had their date and wedding location, and told everyone to save the date. (To be fair, I get why--wedding is next month and they haven't sent invites yet.) Today he posted a form to collect addresses.

It may be an UO, but I follow people on social media because I'm interested in how they're doing. I love seeing pregnancy updates, wedding updates, job opportunities, etc. And I post that kind of stuff too...not everyday, but every now and again. If people don't like it, I imagine they'd unfollow me. But I also get a lot of people that tell me they love to see my social media updates. To each their own, I suppose.

@kahlcara, do you think they are having a big cake and punch reception where they can invite literally everyone?? Or do you think he'll just take the list of people who send addresses as 'applicants' and choose a limited guestlist anyway??

He's pretty religious and we think he's basically joined a cult, so I think it's going to be some variation of cake and punch reception. DH and I are almost certainly not going, because the wedding is on a Monday, 5 hours away, and happens to be my first day at a new job.

I posted a ring pic on FB about a week after the engagement (maybe the same pic that is my avatar here <----). We had been together over 20 years so I think most friends and family had given up on us ever getting married!

I posted a picture of my bouquet a few days after the wedding. I posted a wedding pic of the two of us for our one year anniversary a few weeks ago. That's about it. I only have about 100 FB friends and keep things pretty private.

I'm not posting anything wedding or baby wise until after the fact. Most of my wedding guest don't know that I'm expecting so that will be a big surprise.

Kahlcara, so I guess if you don't DM him your address you won't even have to bother declining!
