5.5 Hours for Make Up?

My wedding is this Saturday. My HMUA is coming to my house to do my hair and make up, and make up only for 3 others. I told her we needed to leave the house to head to the ceremony by 1:30pm, so she said she’d need to be here to start at 8am. Is it normal to need 5.5 hours to do 4 people’s make up and one person’s hair? I want to give her the time she thinks she needs so we don’t end up scrambling at the end, but I just hadn’t planned on incorporating so much getting ready time into my wedding day.

Just my hair and makeup took 2 hours total. So, that seems like a reasonable amount of time to me.

Hair and makeup can take a lot longer than planned, so I feel that time is a normal amount!

My girl took 2 hours for my hair and makeup and an hour for each updo she did so that sounds right. I was also surprised by the time I had to plan for that. Good luck!

That sounds about right. I think my HMUA estimated 45 mins per each bridesmaid’s/mom’s makeup, 45 mins per each bridesmaid’s/mom’s hair and 1.5-2 hours for bride’s hair and makeup.

That sounds totally right. Our HAMU team quotes us the same but suggested we add additional Bridal Image Consultants to speed up the time. Of course that was extra too. Gotta love weddings! Lol

I think it’s completely normal! On a normal day that I do my full makeup without eyeshadow it takes me about 45 minutes.

Yes, absolutely. In addition to the normal time it takes to do full faces plus full hair, it looks like she's giving herself a small buffer for emergencies or unforseen skin emergencies, etc., which is wise to do on the morning of such a high-key day.

Thanks all! That makes me feel so much better! I’m just so used to running a brush through my hair and taking about 5 minutes to put on a little
make up; weddings are a whole other thing entirely! 😂

They told me about 2 to 3 hours for hair for 4 and make up for 2..but the hair and makeup person are separate people. So it seems reasonable for one person to do all of that in the amount of time they told you.

Yes. My wedding is June 15th and we have to be at the hair salon at 7am and my ceremony is at 3pm.

My mother and I are getting hair and make up and my 3 ladies are getting hair and they told me 5 hours too

It is totally normal. everyone getting service done will need the HMU artists best as well. 45-1 hr each sounds correct. Usually for a bride 2 hrs for both services is normal bc of the detail.

That sounds about right. my HMUA says her estimate would be 45 minutes PER service (make up by itself, or hair by itself). I would rather start early that feel so rushed.

I had 1 makeup artist and 1 hairstylist on the day of the wedding. 7 girls needed both hair and makeup (including myself), and 2 needed hair only. To do all of them plus my hair, we were ready by 12:30. Most girls had EXTREMELY thick hair and intricate styles as well. I still don't know how they did it all so fast haha
