3 year engagement!

Kylee, on March 12, 2020 at 2:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hey everyone! Me and my fiance got engaged in early October of 2019, and we are planning to get married in October of 2022. To anyone who has had a 2-3 year engagement, did it fly by for you or did the engagement feel slower?

The good thing is your wedding payments can be made over a longer period of time. Nothing wrong with that and you can get all you want !

My fiancé and I got engaged in October 2018 and are getting married this October, so we’re about a year and a half into our 2 year engagement. There’s definately been times it’s felt soooo far away, and times were I feel it’s coming so fast and the months have flown by! We booked our venue and photographer almost right after getting engaged, took a break for a few months and booked some more vendors and so on. It definately helped to book a few things at a time then relax a bit then continue with the planning again. It also allowed us to save money since we didn’t book everything all at once which we would have had to do with a one year engagement as things need to be booked months in advance. So as of now we have all our vendors booked and just working on smaller details, it feels like it’s definately coming fast at this point as we are 7 months away now.

I got engaged January 2018... for pregnant a few weeks later so we had to postpone our wedding plans and my wedding is next January’s now that we are less than a year out it feels like the weeks are flying by. I secured my venue 19 months out. I ordered my ceremony gown 15 months out which I’m happy I did because it’s going to take 10 months to make with customization. The rest of my vendors I secured in January about a year out. So the benefit of having a longer engagement is that you get your choice of venue, vendors and date. And you have all that time to save to have as lavish a wedding as you wish.

We got engaged on 12/12/16, and are getting married 4/25/2020.
Personally, I've loved the king engagement. We had plenty of time to research what we want, change colors 30 times (a little exaggeration), and really nail down exactly what we want.
People have been generally supportive, although I did really hate the amount of times people said things like "ugh that's too far away" but eventually I just started telling people of they'd like to pay for it, I'd be happy to do it sooner. There were definitely times where I thought OMG its never going to get here!, but I promise you'll blink and BAM, your 44 days out with a laundry list of stuff to get done. My one piece of advise is don't buy your dress too early. The longer you have it, the more you see other people dresses and doubt your choices. Happy Planning 😊

We got engaged 4/2019 and we’re getting married 8/2021. I think all last year it felt like it was far away. But once 2020 hit it started to feel like oh crap let’s get things moving lol. Like someone else said, I like having a longer engagement because we were able to really take our time with selecting a venue and vendors, and think about other details we want. We spent all of last year venue shopping and going to wedding fairs to get ideas and win free stuff.

We got engaged September 2019 then decided to continue our education and then decided to have a long engagement. We'll get married in May or July 2022 most likely. It has been going sooooo slow but this leaves plenty of time to find things on sale and diy. I pretty much have everything planned in my head. But now we might change the location! ... we'll see how it goes I suppose.
