2021 Brides!!!

Brandy, on March 23, 2020 at 9:03 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 17

2021 Brides, where is your thought process with all of this going on? I've read that many brides are pushing their dates to next year, which could leave a scarcity in dates! Also, wedding vendors aren't wanting to commit. No one knows how long Coronavirus will last .. What are all thinking?

Honestly...I’m kind of laughing at those people in my life who told me I was planning stuff way too early. All of our vendors are pretty much booked for our November 2021 wedding, but I can imagine it’s going to be ROUGH because there’s going to be a lot of rescheduling, especially if this thing goes until June. I do feel horrible for all of those who have to reschedule until next year though. It’s so awful. But I am glad that I’m basically all set for my day.

We have already booked all of our big vendors for our March 2021 wedding - venue, catering, photographer and DJ and have paid substantial deposits. We are definitely a little nervous about the potential that one or more of our vendors could go out of business, but we are trying to stay positive and be grateful that we did not plan our wedding for this year with what all of the current couples are going through.

January 2021 bride here! Honestly I am just a little nervous about the availability of vendors. It is hard communicating with vendors right now due to many dealing with rescheduling of current brides. I don't know how long all this will last but I am not worried about moving my date just yet.

So far we have booked our venue, catering, DJ, and videographer. Also purchased my dress, just need alterations. Plan on doing my own makeup, but still need to find a hairstylist. There are other things we still need, but not super major. As of now planning is kind of on hold though. Smiley winking

I was able to book my photographer, but I haven't booked the venue just yet because they were closed due the whole ordeal. Ugh, I was so annoyed because I can't even get the save the dates out yet, ounce I sign for the venue and make things official.

People also told me I had a ton of time as well when I booked my venue June 2019 for my November 2020 wedding. I just ignored them 😛 better to be prepared than not! 😊

We’re traveling to Europe and haven’t booked anything yet, but I’ve been in contact with 1 vendor and a planner we’re considering. A few people have told me we should be good by then, but I feel like this is just making traveling more complicated. There are so many bans in place in which I’m sure will be lifted within the next month. My main concerns are not knowing where the vendors/planners will stand in their businesses and if the risk will still be high by going out of the country.

We've booked venue and photographer for the end of March, but we were working on catering when all of this exploded. Both caterers we wanted to schedule tastings with are closed right now, and one emailed us yesterday to tell us that he's going to have to wait to get our proposal to us until after they reopen. For now, we're working on some smaller things - colors, I'm probably going to start reaching out to coordinators, florists, etc. I am kind of stressed about the standstill right now though.

I'm in the same boat! Everyone thought I was crazy for having a long engagement and locking down my vendors early. (Getting married Aug 27, 2021) BUT now that COVID is pushing all these weddings into 2021, I'm SO glad I got a head start on it all... could you imagine not being able to have your vendor choice because of all the rescheduling? Oh my god, I feel so bad for all these COVID brides, but I'm glad I'm basically all set.

June 2021 bride! With everything that’s been going on it has made what we thought to be a relaxing engagement period turn into a rush to book our vendors. We’ve booked our Venue, DJ, Wedding Coordinator, Photographer and Officiant already. All of which (besides our venue) weren’t our first choice. This was because many 2020 brides have postponed their wedding to next year, and with June being a popular wedding month, many vendors we wanted were suddenly booked!

June 2021 bride here. Venue (with package that includes food and DJ), and photographer have already been booked for months, thankfully. Haven't booked a florist or hair and makeup yet. I want to, so I can ensure I get what I want, but I'm also hesitant to continue with planning right now because I don't want to make deposits only to find out next year that we may be in the same postponement boat that current brides are in. Anyone else feel the same? I don't want to think negatively like that, but I think this virus is going to be around for a while, unfortunately.

We're basically all set (venue all-inclusive with food and planner, DJ, HMUA, florist, and photographer already booked) for June 2021. I'm honestly so glad we planned way in advance because we're all set and I don't have to nail down anything right now. I'm thinking this whole thing will be over by then, but an anxious thought or two has definitely crossed my mind! Just trying to stay excited and focus on the good!

I think you are the first comment on Wedding Wire where I have seen someone mention even some sort of concern about next year. I have scoured for people expressing some sort of concern over even NEXT year. I'm seeing a lot of positivity which is all around good. I'm a June 2021 bride and it hasn't even felt like we can celebrate or plan normally. Had venue (includes cake, food, etc.) since last year and recently booked DJ, ceremony music, and photographer/video. Working on hair and makeup and florist next, but I have definitely had doubts in the planning process about putting down deposits. We've had to plan sooner than normal to secure the vendors we want and ask about policies for postponement. Just something I don't feel great about at all being tossed into the wedding planning, knowing that while we plan, postponement is certainly a possibility, even if a slim one. Trying our best to plan as normally as possible. Smiley smile

It's definitely tough. I was looking forward to taking dance lessons for our first dance, and that's obviously been pushed off. I don't even know what our venue's plan is for 2020 affected weddings, so I don't know how or if I may have to alter my guest count or other details for mine next year if needed. Because it's over a year away, I'm hopeful that I can have a somewhat normal wedding, and at least partially what I'd been imagining, but part of me is still like "what if...". It sucks. Most people look forward to their wedding day, but right now I'm really not.

I've tried to relay how I'm feeling to so many of my friends, many of who went through traditional wedding planning and the excitement of it all. It's hard to really explain why I (and many other brides) feel the way we feel when there is that uncertainty and the unsettling feeling when you put down a deposit for a day that may just not happen... it's like do you invest the money for a day that you keep kicking down the line, or consider eloping? When people keep saying "Good thing your wedding is in 2021!" I'm just like... yeah, but is it really? The way things are going, we just don't know. I'm crossing my fingers that by end of summer we may know more about the virus and things will look up. Trying to stay positive when I can, but let myself also feel sad when I need to feel sad for a bit.
