2021 Bride - dress shopping still?

VM, on July 20, 2020 at 12:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
Hello everyone!!
My fiancé and I got married in the courthouse this past January (so now husband) and had planned a big celebration for May 30, 2021. With everything going should I still be looking for a wedding dress? I have an appointment scheduled for this Saturday where I had to put down a non refundable deposit, but I’m more concerned about if the wedding gets postponed to 2022. Are dress shops still following the 8 months ahead so there’s no rush fee policy? What if I the wedding gets postponed to 2022, am I looking too early then? 😖 Thanks in advance for your advice! 😊

I personally would start looking, especially if your going to a more boutique style bridal shop. My dress took about 6 months to arrive, pre covid. The bridesmaid dress we ordered 4 months ago (right after covid) is still not in. So the question is do you risk not having your dress in on time, or risk having it for an extra few months. Have fun dress shopping!

I’d still go now. Then worst case if you have to push the wedding back you’ll just need time for alterations and a closet to store it in.

I think you should still go since you'r not even sure if you're postponing until 2022 yet. And even if you do, there's nothing wrong with getting your dress this early, just wait closer until the date to get the alterations done. I got my dress at the end of June and then 3 weeks later we decided to move the date from 8/2021 to 8/2022. My dress is scheduled to arrive in December, but I won't start the alterations process until 2022.

Definitely go shopping now. As it is now, my dress is late due to the supply chain being impacted by covid.

Hi, I'm having my wedding a month after your original date. May I ask why you cancelled? I feel like I have so much time yet I'm seeing so many 2021 brides postpone until 2022.

Hi! We decided to postpone because where we live (Northern CA) the pandemic is getting worse and we’re going backwards. They tried to start opening a few things to ease into phase 2, but now our governor is closing everything again. We just don’t see things being in a position where we can have our full guest list of 150 by August 2021. I know it seems really early to be making that decision already, but we didn’t want to wait too long to change it because so many people are already rescheduling. We’re hoping that by August 2022 we can have our full guest list, but if not we will still keep the date. We’re not going to push it back again.
