Omgosh ladies! I found my dress! Left a little mystery on purpose in case my fiance finds this thread lol. But its a strapless sweetheart neckline with sheer mesh overlay.
So the journey to my dress is a crazy one...Before I even knew my fiance, I had saved this dress while helping a friend find hers. Flash forward a few years, we are dating things are good, I look up the dress see that it is not being sold anymore. I was disappointed but not engaged so it was not the end of the world.
Few months later, fiance proposes and that night we talk about how we want to get married. We have both been married before and don't want the traditional wedding. Think very relaxed barefoot backyard southern hippie under a tree vow ceremony and then a party kind of wedding.
I say, well I can show you this dress because they don't make it anymore but this is how I want to look. He immediately tears up and says, that is exactly how I pictured you. Ack, cue end of the world, now I HAD to have this dress.
I start searching online, I message the designer, I search the re-sale sites, facebook groups, etc... i find that the dress had only been listed a couple times recently. Brides really don't want to part with it, understandably. Then a stroke of inspiration! The designer is small and from Australia so I search the hashtag #spellbride on instagram and go through 3800+ posts looking for my dress. I messaged every bride who wore it and looked about my same size. Twenty-four in total.
The vast majority responded and it was like the sisterhood of the traveling dress with these Gwendolyn brides! They are all so sweet. The vast majority do no want to sell theirs because they love it so much but they take the time to answer my questions or suggest other places to look for one! One bride even helped me solve the question of what size to look for since I thought I was between sizes and got conflicting feedback from other brides who wore it. She and I looked about the same exact height/weight/body type and she told me her dress size, how it fit, etc.
And then finally, my prayers were answered from the other side of the world, and long story not so short, my Gwendolyn is on her way to me now. Can not wait til she arrives and I can try her on but for now here she is!
TL;DR after my dream dress was no longer being sold i found one by stalking brides on instagram and begging them to sell it to me
