2020 Honeymoon Booked! Yay!

P & J, on April 29, 2019 at 11:18 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 18
Who else has their honeymoons booked and where did you decide to go?

My fiancé and I have officially booked ours today and we’ve decided to do a simple cruise to Mexico through the Carnival cruise line. Has anyone cruised with them before? What could we expect? We’re so excited!! 😆

Not to scare you but we went on a Carnival cruise to the Bahamas a few years ago in January and it was awful. The trip was completely geared towards kids so there wasn't a ton of things for adults to do on board on the ship we were on (however, I know they now have ships with a lot of adult shows and comedy clubs and even adults only decks) and it was overridden with children lol. All the moms would plop their kids in the hot tubs/pools and walk away so you couldn't even get in the hot tubs or pools because they were literally overflowing with kids. The weather was also horrible. It rained and was cool the entire trip which really put a damper on things. We couldn't even go in the water at the ports because it was so dreary out. We were wearing sweatshirts. The food on our ship wasn't very good either and we didn't like the fact that you always felt rushed and you wasted so much time standing in line for things or just waiting for people to move since it's so crowded. This was just our experience though. I know people who love cruises but it's definitely not for FH and I. We stick to the adults only all inclusives now lol.

Aww man, I hate that it was that way for you all. I’ve been trying to find a bunch of helpful reviews especially for what we as adults and honeymooners could enjoy. The ship did point out a few casinos & adult only areas so hopefully the overflow of kids won’t be too much. I’ll definitely come back & update this post afterwards with our experience

Yes, we are going to Thailand!

I have been on two cruises with Carnival but both were 3-night "booze cruises" to Ensanada only. I personally love cruises and while these two were not the nicest cruises I've been on, we had a great time and the quality overall was good. Carnival is not known to be quite as nice as some of the other cruise lines, but it makes them more affordable, and you can still have a great time. The kid thing shouldn't be as big of an issue for you if you're going in February - it's worse over the summer. As far as the food, it's hit or miss, but you can send back anything you don't like and just get a replacement (or just grab something else from the buffet if you're eating there). Definitely hit up the comedy club and casino (if gambling is your thing). Also you will get a schedule of events when you get on board so you can decide what else you want to do, and the cruise ship can help you schedule excursions if you don't plan them in advance. Maybe you guys can splurge for a spa service or something?

I hope you guys have a great time and try not stress about it! If it's both of your first time on a cruise, you'll enjoy the adventure together and decide whether they're for you or not. Enjoy!!

I have friends going to Thailand later this year! That’s exciting 😆 yes, this will be both of our first time cruising and I think I’m most excited about the ports we’ll be visiting than the actual time on the boat!

Yay! Congrats!!! I’ve been on 2 cruises with carnival with my fiancé. Granted we were not on the cruise as honeymooners, we had a great time other than me becoming seasick. I’d definitely say go to their little shows, play games and join the parties on the deck at night! Enjoy!!

We were originally thinking of going somewhere warm (leaned towards a carnvial cruise) since we're getting married next March in Wisconsin which will still be the end of our winter time but then we decided we wanted to do a bucket list trip instead! We're going to Iceland - just put our deposit down on the trip!! Smiley smile

Weather won't be any different so we'll have to be bundled up but we get to see the blue lagoon, go glacier hiking, whale watching, and try icelandic foods! We're so excited!

Definitely doing something warm for our one year anniversary though so definitely come back with the details of your honeymoon afterwards so we can decide if we want to go through carnival for sure! Smiley smile

I’ve been on a few Carnival cruises before, and they were fun! Don’t let the bad reviews scare you. For more detailed cruise reviews and discussion, you can check out Cruise Critic. Have fun!

Cruises are AMAZING! We actually got engaged on a cruise to Haiti and Jamaica. What to expect on a cruise......

    1. Great food ( order all you want!)

    2. Various entertainment options and things to do pending your ship

    3. A formal night

    4. Consider the drink packages

    5. Crowded pools! We barley visited the pool area cause it was always crowded but when the ship is doc there is less people at the ships pool and you get discounts at the spa too when the ships docked.

Also most deals are at the end of the cruise for the shops so hold out if you can LOL

For our honeymoon we choose to visit another area of Jamaica and are staying at a sandals resort.
