2 years out

Bahra, on May 20, 2020 at 2:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

Hello,

I am getting married on June 25, 2022, and I am starting to plan because all this virus has done is prove to me that anything can happen. Is anyone else planning for a date so far out? If so, how is it?

I'd love to hear your experiences so far!

I started planning exactly 2 years out. Everyone said it was too far out, but I wanted to make sure we had plenty of time to save money and plan every last detail without being stressed. Well, it just goes to show no matter how far out your plan, you can’t predict everything... because COVID-19 hit, and now we have had to reschedule out yet another year 🤦🏼‍♀️ Assuming no other crazy unpredictable things pop up, by the time we are married we will now have been engaged & planning for 3 years. Definitely wishing I would have listened to everybody and had done the wedding in Fall of 2019!

We started planning about 1.5 years out and what we learned was the budgeting part was easy, but we ended up changing the location about 3 times in total. So, there's nothing really wrong with it, but even when you plans way in advance, it doesn't always mean things will go according to plan. I've said this many times to many people, at the end of the day, what you will remember the most is getting to marry the love of your life and the rest will just turn into another day. You'll remember your partner's look, they way they smelled, but everything else will be a blur.

I started off at 25 months out. 2 weeks after our engagement we finally got accepted on our house and that is why we planned 2 years out. I’m honestly so happy we did because we probably would have had to postpone because this year seems to be the worst... I enjoyed my engagement first. I didn’t book my hall till 20 months out and I had 2 halls already booked for my date so book your venue first! Other tha. That I’ve spent my time on Pinterest. Figure out a budget. A guest list. Colors. Theme. Bridal shower theme. Proposals box’s. That’s all I’ve done. I’m now 13 months out. It goes fast but I’m upset because I’ve waiting this long to get close and now everything is closed and I can’t book vendors or try on wedding dresses so I’m a little frustrated with the process but still have time

Oh! These three decisions will then make planning a lot easier: 1) budget, 2) estimated guest list, 3) venue.

We got engaged in November 2018 and started seriously planning in January 2019 for our June 2021 wedding, so about 30 months in advance. We've loved it because it's helped us really stick to our budget and stay calm planning. There hasn't been a lot of planning stress. But, we did have vendors say they were already booked for our date even in early 2019, so definitely plan early if you can - it can't hurt.

We started planning 18mo out. DW location, so vendors typically book out a year in adv. Luckily we started sooner than later because we ended up changing our venue after visiting. I had to exchange my dress, after a trial and a recent hair fail, I changed my hair/mua. Luckily we still had the the time to hire new vendors. Then we also had 2 years worth of income tax to save which helped us tremendously for this wedding. Then on top of that, we added a savings account to our joint account for portions of our paychecks to go into. Strongly encourage planning in adv!

We started planning in August 2018 for a November 2020 wedding. I was mostly just looking at different things I liked and tried to get a vision for the day. The first thing we did was come up with a budget (since has gone up twice, whoops) and then picked a venue. We had a tentative guest list going, but really started to nail it down about a year out. We slowly just knocked off vendors one by one. Now it's more of just a waiting game.

We are planning for 10/22/22 wedding and we have been looking at venues for the past month and have hired our wedding planner. Watched all the Covid postponements take up 2021 Im glad we are already ahead of the game on venues. We have 5 left to look at this weekend and then make the decision and then take a break until after the busy wedding season to do photography next.

I'm also planning two years out. We got engaged in March and just booked our venue for June 2022! I'm enjoying it for the most part because I don't feel stressed about it as we have so much time.
