Dedicated October 2021

2 weeks out & a little nervous

Katie, on October 3, 2021 at 4:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
We’re finally having our wedding that we’ve been planning since February 2019!! We’re only 2 weeks away, and I’m nervous that I didn’t plan the wedding “enough”. Do I have to have a time frame for every single detail (like time for bouquet toss)? Do I have to have a strategic plan to “get people on the dance floor”?
After going over my wedding weekend schedule with a couple friends we decided to move up dinner by a half hour and add in late night snacks. Am I wayyyy late in the details? Anyone else feeling nervous and anxious ? I want to be excited but I’m worried guests will think it’s disorganized.

It sounds like those concerns are handled by venue/ vendors ie. bouquet toss and dancing, your DJ

If there are elements that are important to you, such as the bouquet toss or family dances, penciling out a basic timeline can ensure that they aren't accidentally overlooked in all the excitement.

You can give your DJ a general idea of what you'd like and/or ask one of the friends who has been helping you plan to keep the DJ on track that day. The DJ can simply announce that the dancefloor is open, if the music isn't an obvious clue. We wanted people to feel comfortable dancing during the cocktail hour, so we asked our DJ to make an announcement. We also included a simple timeline in our programs so guests knew what to expect. If you haven't printed your programs yet, maybe that could work for you?

These are perfect concerns to discuss with your wedding planner so that you can get an understanding of the day’s timeline and events. Also speak with your DJ since they’re the one to help move the reception along by verbalizing what’s occurring next. They also help get guests on the dance floor.

I am making a full timeline for every event for the day. If I don't people will ask me a million questions about what to do (some still will). I am going to go over it with my planner and then distribute it to anyone who needs to know. As far as I'm concerned you don't really need to have the schedule done until the day of or day before 🤷‍♀️

It's your day! Make a timeline for what you really want, and let everything else play out!

Just enjoy your day, and be in the moment
