2 part post-topics: Invitations & Engagement photos

Crystal, on November 18, 2019 at 9:41 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

Good morning! I decided to include 2 parts to my post today instead of making 2 separate posts and trying to keep up with them both.

*Invitations: Has anyone who has already had their wedding gone with the tri-fold invitations that don't require envelopes and are about the size of a post card. You can tear off the RSVP as it's included in the invitation already. They seem a bit more cost effective and less hassle messing with and stuffing envelopes. If you've used this specific type, how did it go over? Secondly...When did you send out your invitations? Our wedding is 8/13/21.

*Engagement pics-When did you take your engagement photos and design your save the dates? When did you eventually send them out? Again. Wedding is 8/13/21

Thanks for your help Smiley smile

    Invitations:

We did the all in one invitations from Minted and loved them. They definitely give off more of a casual vibe than classic invitations, but as long as you're not having a formal wedding, they would be appropriate. We sent ours 8 weeks before our wedding.

    Engagement photos:

We got engaged in February 2018 and took engagement photos in March of 2019. We didn't include engagement photos in our save the dates, but they went out 8 months before our wedding.

Hi Caytlyn, Thanks for the reply!

Did you send out your save the dates and your invites at the same time, since you said 8 weeks for both?

Our wedding isn't going to be over the top formal but it will be a tad on the fancier side, but I seem to like the convenience of the all in ones as well as it seems more modern and updated vs the old school invites. They are also very pretty, but I feel like I am drawn more toward the all in one. I went to a bridal fair yesterday and they had samples of them there from a local print company. They were about $175 for 100 invites I think....Since you went thru minted, does this price seem comparable? I havent checked them out yet. Smiley smile

Save the dates went out 8 months before, invitations went out 8 weeks before. 6-8 months prior for save the dates and 6-8 weeks prior for invitations is standard. We paid about $145 for 85 invitations from Minted during a promotion, so $175 for 100 seems reasonable!

Ok awesome! Thanks! I misread it. It's still early where I'm at and apparently I haven't had enough coffee. LOL Thanks for the heads up Smiley smile I'll look in to both to see what they have to offer Smiley smile

    Invitations:

These are the ones I did. They were really affordable and the foil was gorgeous. I even added a few lines and their customer service was great for getting me the proofs in a timely manor. However, I ended up putting them in envelopes and sending stamped rsvp envelopes with them as well, so I didn't use them for their intended purpose at all! I just felt that they'd get dirty and bent being sent through the mail. Plus I had extra envelopes so it wasn't an extra cost for me.

Invitations - We did not do the tri-fold invitations. I have actually never seen those before. We did foil-pressed invitations and online RSVP's just because we thought it was easier to manage that way.

STD's- We got our engagement photos taken in March 2019. We sent out our STD's in April 2019 for our October 2019 wedding (so right at 6 months). Our invitations went out about 8 weeks before our wedding.
