2 oz Stamps

FilleNouvelle, on January 14, 2018 at 7:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
Hi! So I have invites that are over 1 oz. I bought 2 oz stamps back in November. I cannot send out my invites until later in the month, since I'm out of town and they're back at my place. So it'll be after the rates go up on the 21st. Do I need to buy the penny stamps? Or will the 2 oz stamp I bought in November still be valid?

Take your invitations to the post office. Have them weighed. They will tell you if the postage you already have is enough.

It should be fine. I bought 2oz stamps last January before last year's price increase in postage and mailed my invitations a week after the increase. When I handed my invitations to the clerk at the post office, I simply asked if the postage was correct (he weighed one to confirm it was under 2 oz) and asked if my buying the stamps before the price increase was an issue. He pointed out to me that on my stamps, it simply said "2 ounces" and did not stare a price. So long as there is no price listed on the stamp, it is considered a forever stamp.

You should be fine! I bought my 2 ounce stamps and they don't even say 2 ounce stamp or have a cent value on it, it just says non-machineable surcharge, so since there is no value on it you should be good!
