2 dining areas- Where B&g sit??

Kelly, on May 3, 2021 at 9:50 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6

You all are so helpful I'm back for some more advice!

Backyard wedding October 2021 for approx 130 people.

Note- we're not doing entrances, speeches, or a first dance

Now the question is-- where do my FH and I sit?? We don't love the idea of a sweetheart table. He is pretty anti-attention and anti-traditional wedding. He is insisting to not have seats for us at all, which I disagree with because I want to eat! He thinks we're going to just talk to people all through dinner. My compromise was a head table, but he didn't love that idea either. I'm really at a loss for what to do!

If you’re don’t like a sweetheart table or head table, what about a table with your parents or other immediate family?

Cyndy gave a good suggestions. You will definitely want to sit and eat though. Make sure you are served first and that will allow you time to eat and then get up and visit with your guests while they are eating.

We had a sweetheart table but it was not spotlighted at all. Our table was just tucked centrally at the back. No one was watching us eat but we had our own little place to sit and eat at dinner time. I’ve seen some sweatheart tables where the couple is on display and I didn’t want that at all. Here, anyone COULD see us, but we didn’t feel like an exhibit! 2 dining areas- Where B&g sit?? 1

I don't think a sweetheart table necessarily puts too much attention on anyone. At that point everyone will be focusing on mingling and eating and dancing. Like others have mentioned you can sit with family or you can do a head table with the bridal party. You definitely want a place to sit to relax and eat through the night. The ceremony is the big part where you're on the spotlight and the reception is least of your worries

A sweetheart table is actually about diverting people's attention AWAY from you. It's designed to give the couple a few moments alone, with no one bothering them, so they can eat and share some quiet together after just sharing vows.

Not having a place to sit will also be not fun for you in your dress, and for hydrating/eating.

Please insist on some kind of seating for the two of you.

We are not having assigned seating for anyone including ourselves. We are going for more of a cocktail reception. We will have lots of food but have a variety of seating options. My FH even wants to serve tenderloin at one of our food stations instead of a receiving line. We both have been married before this is just about having a awesome Party with friends and family and celebrating our love.
