2 Ceremonies- Rings?

Hi all!


We are having two ceremonies, a smaller civil ceremony with family and a symbolic/spiritual destination wedding a couple of months later. Does anyone out there have advice on when to do our ring exchange? Or how? I know this is a personal decision and probably just based on preference but I’m stuck. It feels strange NOT to exchange bands during our legal ceremony but if we do, what will we exchange during our DW? Thoughts?!

    You really don't need to exchange rings at the second event. You are already married at that point, and doing anything wedding related would be silly.

    Everyone that is invited to the destination event will know that you are already married, correct?

    I’d exchange rings at the first ceremony, since that’s the one where you’re actually getting married. For the second, you can take off the rings and have the officiant say some kind of blessing, then you put them back on each other.

    Other half and I had our big hoorah on this past Saturday with family and friends, we’re doing the legal one later this year where its just my parents, his parents. We’re gonna reuse the rings from that ceremony, but it mostly depends upon budget if you want to do another set, because a little variety can be nice between bands, Etsy is good place to find some really nice rings if you decide to go that route.
