Ladies we are having a 1940s theme wedding at a historic courthouse in Downtown Decatur, GA. My fiance is an Army Reservist and also a Police Officer. He returned from Afghanistan less than a year ago and we saw it fitting to go with this theme. I am full time student. Please help with some ideas....

Check out the pics below of our wedding invite inspiration please help. Oh and our colors are Black and cream with some Crimson (red) very little...I dont want it to clash with his uniform. My dress is a mermaid stil very elegant. When I find a pic I will post it.

Thank you Hayley I think that some of our family wants more of a traditional feel to the wedding and I'm totally opposite Smiley smile

Why don't you put your invites in a poster of the fourties? In the style of a famous movie or theater or something like this? I'm just sharing my ideas :-)

Jasmine! I love that theme! I suggest you contact the decorator for my wedding. They were doing a 20's theme at the same time they were doing my wedding and the stuff I saw in their office was incredible. They make everything so it's one of a kind, and it's soooooooooooo cost effective, you wouldn't even believe it! I had a pretty tight budget and they were able to give me 99% of what I wanted.

Beautiful theme, great invites! Just think of all those old glamorous movies! You could still name your tables after people of the era. If it would get confusing try to find the tables, have a "map" near the escort cards or table seat chart that shows where each table is located. You should have your processional and recesstional songs from the 40's era also. Happy planning...it sounds like such a fun idea!

    Jasmine,

It seems like you off to a great start. Have you thought of having a Swing dance teacher at the reception? I have been a teacher and performer for many years. If your interested, please let me know. Good luck with everything!
