1920’s theme

Maggie, on August 25, 2019 at 11:06 AM Posted in Style and Décor 2 25
Looking for any and all ideas for 1920’s theme. Not looking for over the top gatsby with feathers, make rustic with speakeasy vibe.

I’ve got a few “Art Deco” type aesthetics for my day, though not really a 1920’s theme, per say. I found a cool vintage mirror that we’ll use as our welcome sign and am using an Art Deco-y font for our table numbers (mostly because FH hates the popular modern calligraphy fonts). We’ll also have the feel in our invitations. Not too over the top because I don’t like themes, but helps with the vintage, romantic feel I’m going for.

Vistaprint! Our main color is that dark green, so I was thrilled when FH said he liked the design. I plan on utilizing their big Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale to buy it all.

I’ll post inspiration ideas here when I get home. I should say it’s more romantic speakeasy theme, not feathers and over the top. I’m having a lot of romantic vintage vignettes with period items. The wedding party dresses aren’t over the top either. I need to find a mirror like that for our welcome to our wedding sign.

Hello! It’s not Gatsby per se, think old Hollywood Glamour. Dark red, black, gold and ivory are my colors. I’ll be wearing an old Hollywood feel dress, he’ll be wearing a tuxedo with a cutaway coat, white ostrich plume with dangling crystals centerpieces. I’m really excited as it started with the dress and continued to evolve.

The colors are Burgundy and rose gold with a touch of emerald green. It’s a more romantic speakeasy wedding them. Very vintage

Ooohhh! I'm thinking vintage noir. You know, like those gritty old black and white films with the femme fatale and all that! I adore the 20s-30s; always have since I was little and was playing with grandma's art deco jewelry.

If we'd done this theme (and I guarantee you, I considered it), we'd most likely have done a signature drink with gin. Maybe do a signature gin and a signature moonshine.... there are some serious "making moonshine in the bathtub" stories in my dad's side of the family from the 20s. Smiley winking If you haven't had one yet; ask for a gin martini the next time you go out and see if you like that. I like mine extra dirty. Smiley winking

I cannot WAIT to see pics!!!! It's going to be epic!!!!

Oh....... and also emerald cut jewelry.

The bridesmaids dresses and my dress. We are adding burgundy fabric to the bottom of the dress instead of the pink.

Thinking of doing all this down the aisle. I will chose a F Scott Fitzgerald quote for the hoop in our colors.

We are going for vintage southern summer evening. Pulling in touches of traditional southern style with Magnolia flowers, romantic tapered candles, gold everywhere and the stationary portions will use a vintage font. My dresses have a vintage feel to them both and my headpiece is straight Gatsby.

Like this for table runner but NO BURLAP.

My hairpiece, I'm OBSESSED and cannot wait to go veil shopping. I will wear my veil with it for the ceremony/pictures and then take veil off and change into reception dress for our grand entrance.

    Good morning,
We are also doing a 1920's theme, no feathers, too expensive and so over done now. Our venue is an Airplane Museum that has planes from different wars so we were going in that direction. We are going to highlight the African American soldiers. I have been searching the internet for different battalion: infantry, medics, airman. I ha e been finding their pictures and typing short stories about who the are and what they did.

I was thinking of doing something like this. The burgundy is the bridesmaids dresses I found on Amazon for like $60. I'm making my own brooch bouquet.

I live next to Fort Leavenworth if you would like anything about the Buffalo Soldiers I would be glad to offer what I can. Omg I love that Burgundy dress. I might have to have my matron of honor wear that.
