1000 Cranes

My son suggested we have 1000 cranes. He says they are for good luck. ( I have never heard of this) If I will use them he will buy them and make all of them. He has had some good ideas, but is this one of them? What in the world would I do with them ? Should I suggest he make something else for us...

    This post is way late, buuuttt...

    @SXC Okay, so from what I understand, the legend was made popular by a girl who was dying of radiation poisoning after WWII (she eventually did pass away). She folded the cranes to wish for health or peace, I forgot.

    Now, Japanese people associate white cranes with hospitals and really sick people. However, if they are brightly colored and not in a cluster, then it looks different from what Japanese people expect to see in that context.

    Further, if you see something about 1001 cranes, from my understanding, that is Hawaiian and not strictly Japanese. I may be wrong, though.
