100 Questions to Ask Before Marriage

mrsg, on December 15, 2012 at 9:22 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

At first I scoffed and thought, "What, are you supposed to sit there with a checklist and an answer sheet?" But as I read these questions, I thought that you really should ask many of these in some form or another. I know that many couples I know would have had stronger marriages (or maybe avoided a disaster of a marriage) if they had thought about some of these questions: http://www.lovethegrows.com/2012/11/questions-you-should-ask-before-marriage.html

These are things that should have come up in conversations before anyone decides to get married. I mean, it's not bad, but it's a lot to take in

I agree that it's a lot, Celia. Thought it might help brides earlier who were asking about pre-marital counseling, and it's good to file away.

    I KNEW IT!!!

I'll check the questions tomorrow, because it's a lot. I'm curious how much we covered. Did you do all of them?

We'd never get through the whole list in one sitting....we'd have to break it down and do a topic an evening or something. We are both way too ADD (oops...saw a shiny quarter) to stay focused that long....and we get off into conversations that lead to stories and such....jeesh..this list would take us a year to finish..

You're right, many of these should be asked before you get married. But many are also impossible to answer. Most people will never understand what childhood experience most influences their attitudes and behaviors. There's also a discrepancy between attitude and behavior. So whatever people say they would do, doesn't mean they will. But it's a great food for thought :-)
