10 year vow renewal

Jodie, on February 9, 2022 at 8:23 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16
My husband and I got married young. I was 20 and he was 22. We did have a wedding that turned out good. Not all things were the way we wanted do to money. We were living in our own so we had bills. I'm wanting to do a vow renewal for our 10 year on the date of our anniversary. Now I'm stuck on the things we should do because again we did have a wedding just not exactly how we wanted. I never got to go do the whole find my dress thing but I also don't want a white dress this time. I guess I'm really wanting to do a small dinner party type of thing where we just stand and do vows again have dinner and dance and have fun. Am I wrong for wanting a wedding dress just not in white and wanting to do nice decorations with catered food, a DJ and a photographer to do pics of me and the kids getting ready and pics of everything later?

I don’t see why any of that would be wrong.

Thank you. I just don't want people especially those who helped us think I'm trying to have another wedding. But 10 years is a long time and a lot has changed we have 3 kids and our own house. I just feel like a new commitment and including our kids would be good.

Nothing wrong about this at all. People have vow renewals all the time, and some of them are insanely extravagant!

As far as dress what do you think? I've found 1 that's white with nude under I really like it but also like black just having a harder time finding one of those. Plus my mom never got to go with me to find my dress. She only seen me try on like 4 and I didn't even end up with any of them.

Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful! I am a huge believer in “you will know you have found The One when you put it on”. Since you didn’t get the bridal boutique experience the first time, I would make an appointment at one! You can try on both bridal gowns and special occasion dresses and see which one you are feeling for your event. If nothing else, at least you will get to have that experience with your mom.

Thank you! Everyone on here has been so nice! Anytime I bring it up around my husband's family they make it a deal. Like we don't need to do it or just a waste of money.

Pssshht. Ignore them. It’s none of their business; and I guarantee they won’t be complaining when they’re having fun at your renewal, eating free food and drinking free alcohol 😆😆

We are planning on renewing our vows in October. We are going to Las Vegas and inviting a few friends to come. I plan on wearing a pretty dress and having dinner and partying afterwards for friends who come. Do what you want and enjoy it.

Do everything you want to (except pre-wedding parties like bridal shower because you’re already married). But vow renewal, big dress, first dance, cake cutting, etc, go for it!!! 🎉

There's nothing wrong with having a vow renewal. It's OK to do all the things you mentioned!
