10 year old ring bearer? No flower girl.

JENN, on December 1, 2019 at 8:36 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8
Our entire families younger kiddos are all boys? Not a girl in the lot of them! Lol.

My oldest nephew is 11 and we are super close but I'm drawing a blank on how to include him. I also have a 5 year old nephew who would be the best candidate for ring bearer but hes incredibly shy so hes going to need some help down the aisle. Other then holding his brothers hand down the aisle, any ideas on how to include the 11 year old in the wedding?
My father has passed and my brother is in and out of a wheelchair, depending on the day, due to an aggressive muscular-skeketal degeneratve disease, so i considered having my nephew walk with me down the aisle too. That just seems like a lot to put on him.
Thanks guys.

My son will just have turned 12 at my wedding, and he is going to walk me down the isle. He’s super excited about it, and tells everyone who asks him about the wedding. For that age, you just need to consider that they’re all at different maturity and emotional levels. You know your nephew well, is he a timid child or one who would not take the role seriously? I think asking your nephew would be a great option for you though.

Our oldest nephew (10 at the time of the wedding) walked my Mom and my MIL down the aisle and then stood with the GM. After the wedding, he escorted my Mom back up the aisle.

I think it would be really nice if he would walk you down the aisle.

Thanks guys. Hes a pretty serious kiddo when tasked with something. This just might work. Thanks for the reassurance ladies!

My 11 yo nephew will be a ring bearer walking his 4 yo brother down the aisle (also ring bearer). The 4 yo is also super shy so I’m hoping having big brother will at least get the 4 yo down the aisle. I don’t think it’s odd but it’s not a huge part of the ceremony if you want him in a larger role. So maybe you could do the ideas above and get your ring bearer too.

I think having him walk you down the aisle is a great idea. I also think there would be nothing wrong with having him be a "flower child" instead of having a girl do it. Smiley smile

Maybe he could be junior groomsman?

or could he walk your mother or another family member down the aisle?
