10 wks too early for invites?

Monica, on September 21, 2017 at 8:18 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

So I would really like to send invites at 10 weeks and give 4 weeks for RSVP so that I can do seating charts early and not be spazzing out 2 weeks before my wedding. One of my friends said this was too early, but I guess as I guest I don't really care when I receive an invite because I usually get STD anyways. sending Save the dates 6 months in advance for mine.

I don't think 10 weeks is too early, we will actually be sending ours out early-mid November just for the sake of beating the holiday card rush

I think I sent mine out around 9 weeks; know your crowd - it's nice to have extra time to hunt down those who don't send their RSVP back (trust me, there will be a lot).

You have a lot of time, too.

Do you mean you want the RSVP date to be 4 weeks ahead of the wedding or 4 weeks after you send invites out, leaving you 6 weeks before the wedding?

If the former, you can send invites out later and still have an RSVP date 4 weeks ahead of the wedding. I'm sending out invitations about 8 weeks ahead, with a RSVP date of November 20, so I actually have about 5 weeks ahead of the wedding. I've heard the recommendation to not put RSVP dates too far after of people would receive the invites, because they will set it aside thinking they have plenty of time and then forget to respond.

I am sending mine out at the 10 week mark but that's because of when I need my final numbers. I also wanted some extra time with the all the holidays before the wedding.

I plan to send out invites between 10-9 weeks but that is because we have 75% of our guest list coming from OOS and the wedding is a holiday weekend. They will have already received our STD as well so Hopefully those planning to come will have made travel arrangements but I would also just feel better being a little ahead of the curve.

If you're in a similar situation I think its fine. but if you're wedding is a non-holiday weekend or you have mostly local guests I would just wait until the 8 week mark.

I'm afraid to tell you that there is no way to avoid the scrambling two weeks before the wedding. It's the nature of the beast, lots of last minute shit will need to be done. And as far as getting people to rsvp a month before the wedding, good luck. I still haven't gotten definite answer from five people, and my wedding is this Saturday!

I agree with AKulina, know your crowd. Plus give yourself time for the responses and having to hunt people down as well. Not everyone is as good as you an I to put it on your fridge and respond in a timely manner. Do what YOU think will work best for you and your FH. Your friend will just have to answer sooner than they expected to. That's all

I'm sending mine 10 weeks early, beginning of march I think, and having them due back by April 1. The three weekends before my wedding are extremely busy for me, so I need the seating chart done before that.
