10-foot long veil

Meaghan, on February 4, 2017 at 2:44 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

Soooooo I purchased a 130" veil from Etsy and if my math is correct, it's 10 feet total. I am 5 of those feet so the veil extends 5 feet behind me. My train I believe is 108". I should have gone with the basic 120" veil but I loved the lace detail and wanted extra space to show case it. Photo below...it's longer than it "appears". This is Etsy photo. I think it's beautiful and I will bring it to my fitting next week to ensure how it all looks, but I'm very concerned at the sheer volume, weight, and length of it. The ceremony is one thing but we will light a unity candle and turning around in it seems cumbersome. Should my MOH help me? Should I drape the veil over my arm for that part? I don't want to look ridiculous. :-/

Absolutely. Ceremony and pictures only. There's also a small blusher in front. Love it!

I want to change into a simple fingertip length veil for the reception or perhaps a fancy hair clip.

This is my vantage point wearing it. Here I am turned around looking back at it. There's my foot for reference. It's quite a long, wide veil.

Oooh Maeghan, that is really long. Do you think I should consider getting the 9 foot one. I'm waiting on my dress to come in so I can try on different veil lengths but my dress has a train and of course I want my cathedral veil longer than my dress train

That is some beautiful detailing on your veil! I would definitely have you MOH help you move it as needed during the ceremony.

@FutureMrsRidley- if you can wait to try on both together, it'd probably be beneficial. Are you looking at the same vendor on Etsy I did? Because yea- the typical 120" would have sufficed. But I have 130"...I will update with a photo next week when I go for my first fitting!

Girl...... Girl...... Breathtaking veil!!!!! I love it! Let your MOH help you! As you move she can lift it, move it and spread it back out. Just pass bouquets down the line to your other BM'S if she needs both hands to straighten it.

Beautiful! Yes either your MOH can help you straighten it, or you can have her lay it on your arm. I did both at different points during her wedding!
